As I've said in other posts, I f-ing hate social network sites but because of my resistance, I got in on the myspace craze way too late and instead of making thousands, wound up making hundreds.
As much as I don't want to, I'm obviously not going to miss out on potential FB money.

I purchased a "few"...lol, FB accounts, each has 500+ friends with more asking to be added. I have done nothing with these other than manually accept friend adds. So my main questions are:

Should I accept all group invitations with the hope of using them in the future for cpa leads etc? These groups range from Mafia wars bullshit groups to one that is actually called "Stop the usage of dogs as live bait for sharks". WTF???

Also, are fan pages or groups the way to go to monetize?

You can join a few grp to see how they try to get money off you, but this grps and fan pages is the way to make money :)

And about the friends, yes you should accept the requests, and get a bot from livelybrowser or some custom, and start adding more friends.

Its weird so many senior members like myself have been ignoring Facebook. I personally think its the place to focus rather than CL now.

Anyway, I have the same questions as localhero does; groups or fanpages? How do you start a fan page - do you make a topic, then invite or what. How do you broadcast updates to your fans/friends because I hear its different than just regular accounts. Why go to all that trouble when you can just have regular accounts, add in a FBML tab and keep adding thousands of friends?

I think the bot from lively is no longer supported.

Would some FB expert please chime in.

as far as i know, you cant actually use FBML on anything but a page. Pages are alot better for advertising too because everytime you make a wallpost, ever member will have it posted on their news feed. Basically, choose a niche, make a page, scrape other related groups for ID's, send messages inviting these people to your page, these will be targetted or not, depending on where you get the ID's from. Build a relationship (post not aff content).. then when you have enough members, just post an aff product or offer ever once in a while, dont spam it though, i usually do it once every 3 days or so. No more than 3 a week personally.
 
Don't go accept the invites - they could just send you pm after pm ;) Aswell, your giving them money because if they sell the group you are a member. But this isn't that important.

Just get the amount of friends to about 1k and make a fan page.

milestone, thanks for the info. Are you sure about that? this site below looks just like a regular user account but has some specialty tabs that appear to be created from FBML.

Thats a page right there. If it says "Become a fan" anywhere, its a page, if its a group, it will say "join group". If its a user account, there will be nothing. To get custom tabs, you need to add an app called static FBML to your page.
 
So on a regular user account, you can just do a status update to 5000 friends. On that update you can post links to blogs or CPA offers once in a while? Correct?

Then on fanages, you can have both a custom FBML tabs (to a CPA offer or something) and still do wall postings that will filter down to all your fans?

Do I have this sort of right? Man, I am such a FB noob :confused:

Do you know of a bot that can take all the scraped Group and/or Page IDs and send them a message all at once?

Good info. So is that app the first thing you'd need to start creating a page?
And is a page the same as a fan page?

Local, I think the FBML code is something you add in later after you get the page established. I think it might scare people off joining if you are already marketing something when they join.
 
a fan page and a page are exactly the same. You dont NEED the application, but if you want any type of custom tabs or landing pages, that is what you would use.

and to what tygrus said, I often use FBML tabs and set the tab as the default landing page, i then write a little about the group ( no advertising) and add a become a fan button on there too.

It took me a long time to find the code for addind a become a fan button so here it is.

You just need to put in your page ID and you can also change the become a fan text to anything you want.

About adding friends, if you want a bot to do it, go with friend blaster pro imo. Dont add more than 50 in a day though, you will quickly get banned.

Sorry if I came off sounding like a dick..I just see a lot of posts about fb and really none that helps shit-for-brains FB noobs like me. Just didn't want this flying off into a totally different topic.
