Hi everyone,

I'm still playing arround with fb ads and learning everyday. For the last 2 days my problem is FaceBook oCPM.

So here is exactly what I've done.

1. After testing I picked a nice ad for a CPA offer with great CTR and 25%+ conversion rate.

2. When I run my ad on FaceBook for the first 4-5 hours I'm paying under $0,40 oCPM (so I pay almost $0,01 per click and I get 1000+% ROI).

3. After 4-5 hours my oCPM starts to increase fast and can get to $0,80-$1 within an hour or two and keeps rising.

The problem is that oCPM increases for no reason (my CTR is steady and when I choose CPM the maximum suggested bid is $0,14 - $0,29).

My campaign is still profitable but I don't understand why do I have to pay more for no reason.

Is there a way for me to keep my $0,40 oCPM?

Thank you.

What is the CTR? Is the ad 'newsfeed' or 'right hand side'?

Also, it's better to use CPC, rather than letting FB charge at it's own will. It will ultimately lead you to an empty pocket.

It's a newsfeed ad with CTR arround 3%. I've tried CPC and CPM and the ads are running slow and my CTR drops to 1% and less

The problem is that your not targeting a wide enough audience. They charge much more when you try to narrow down the audience to specific needs.

FB ads is all about testing and what I do is set up a bunch of campaigns and see which one resonates with the viewer best. Then narrow down to 3 of the best ads.

Feel free to add my skype :ericsebastion

Thanks for your answer. My audience is 100,000 (this is small right?) and I've already chosen the best performing ads.

Yes that is extremely targeted,so the price your paying can't possibly get lower. Try adding some more things in there to make the reach around 1mil

Increase the target audience a little bit. 100k is very targeted and will usually cost you way more. Bigger audience will most likely result in lower ROI% as there will be curious clicks from not interested prospects

For newsfeed ads getting an CTR of 2-5% is normal/average. All my ads cross the 5% tag after one day.

If you think your ads are running slow, then increase the budget, and I don't think CTR depends on your CPC. Actually it's CPC that is calculated via CTR.

You say when you use CPC instead of oCPM, your cost per click increases, I would say you let it sit there for some time. It will eventually come down.

100K audience is considered highly targeted, and one must expect a CTR of over 10% to consider it a good campaign. If you are still in profit with 3% CTR, you must try to increase it to increase your ROI.

Also which country are you running these ads for? And what do you mean by ads are running slow?

3% ctr for newsfeed? That's kinda either average or little below average. Shoot for 8%.

Keep testing multiple creatives. It's a numbers game with FB.

I tested more than 20 ads and I couldn't get more than 3% CTR. The campaign was extremely profitable even with 3% CTR for the first 4-5 hours and then it started rising. It is still profitable after the oCPM rise. I tested a lot of things last night (bigger budget, CPC) but now the offer is paused by the network so I'll test with something else.

Any tips on how to create NewsFeed Ads for better CTR? Also is it better to start testing with CPC and then turn it to oCPM? Thank you all for your answers.

i would say , stay away from ocpm for a while and test with cpc or even cpm
to increase your ctr, you can add some eye striking color to your Image you are advertising.
or maybe make a rectangle frame(i dont like it much but it works)

Any tips on how to create NewsFeed Ads for better CTR?

Get an eye-catching picture. (Add borders around it)
Have good text in title and body.
Don't let the ad run for too long, as people want click the ad they see every now and then. Keep canging the picture.
Lastly, increase your target audience, 100K is too small.

Also is it better to start testing with CPC and then turn it to oCPM?

oCPM is not used by any of the advertisers I know. I always prefer CPC. It helps me to keep the ad spent under the profitable category.

Thank you all for your tips and your answers. I'll try everything tonight.

All solid advice here but what if your niche isn't really gigantic to begin with. Any advice? A few weeks ago it was worthwhile. Is an algorithm change at play making it tougher for narrow audiences to fight back on uid scrapping?

...3-5%? What are you guys runnin? I'm doing .5-1% and I'm paying $1.25-$2cpcs and I'm spending thousands a day on fb.... Never had much luck with ocpm tho

Is it for RHS ads or newsfeed ads?

If it's for RHS, then you have got some good CTR, but in case of newsfeed it's too low, but I don't know why your CPC is so high.

Are you guys using Auto or Manual bidding ?

Ive been doing many testing like breakdown of the audience, size, etc.

It seem sometime for the same ads, I get good price then after a while price go up. I redo the ads and the price is nowhere as cheap. Anyone got that issue ?

I always set my new campaigns on auto so Facebook sends traffic and sees how high my CTR is. Then I manually set my CPC and turn off auto. They still send traffic because their system realizes my CTR is high enough for them to make enough money even with my manually set CPC. Good luck!
