Do all new ad sets go thru the learning phase? And if yes, how long does this phase last, and when does it start? It says if should say learning under delivery, but mine only says active. And after this learning phase, is there typically better performance?

As I understand it, the definition of machine learning is that spending is slower and the amount of distribution will not be as high

It takes 2-3 days to fully optimize. Just wait for it to pass that phase.

Neither one of those replies answered my question.

My question is do all new ads go thru the learning phase, and if yes, when does it start? As I've started my ads, and they never say learning, only says active.

From my experience all new Facebook ads undergo a learning phase

That's what I was under the impression of too, but then I read on Reddit that there is a specific ad type that doesn't go thru the learning phase.. or atleast it won't display it under delivery. Mine has never said learning under delivery, and is what I'm trying to fix.

Yes, all new campaigns will go through a learning phase. You just need to achieve 50 conversions to successfully complete it. You can either increase your budget or simply wait for it to progress normally and reach the desired outcome.

While the delivery system never stops learning the best way to deliver an ad set, an ad set will exit its learning phase as soon as performance stabilizes, typically after about 50 optimization events. updated since the last major revision.

If an advertising team applies machine learning, this phase typically begins when enough data is collected to train the model. The duration of this phase may vary depending on many factors, including the amount of data, model complexity, and available resources.
After the learning period, the ad set's performance can improve depending on the quality of the trained model and the optimization of the ad strategy.

When your camp achieves 50 results, the campaign status will change to active, then your camp will have good results and will spend faster)

Meta's ad delivery system uses machine learning to optimize your results. Every time one of your ads shows, the delivery system learns more about the best audience to target, what time of day to show the ad, and what placements and content. to use. The more ads shown, the better the delivery system is able to optimize ad performance.

what is your campaign goal? (views, clicks, conversions, etc)

My goal is Instagram profile views, which is part of my funnel. So not really concerned about growing followers, just want them to get to the page and the funnel will take care of the rest.

So there is no learning phase in that case, as your goal is views. 1 ad impression = 1 view. Likely why you are not seeing the 'Learning' status.

If it's part of your funnel, use conversion objective in campaign setup and set a custom event to fire when the IG page is clicked on within your funnel. That way the ads will optimize towards clicks on that link - and should create the 'Learning' status.

Bingo, that's the answer I was looking for. Couldn't figure out for the life of me why I wasn't seeing that. My end goal is sales, but the sales aren't being done on IG, so I don't think there is a way to track them thru ad manager right?

Will give this a try. Thanks.

Place the FB conversion pixel on your site and setup custom events. You can setup custom events for all steps of the funnel, like first page clickthru, IG link click, sale. Place pixels on as many events as you can, its tedious, but the more the better in the long term. Once setup as custom events/custom conversions you should be able to setup campaigns using the conversion objective, per any of those stages in the flow.

I'm not using a website unfortunately, I'm processing them automatically thru an app.

Mobile app? Or 3rd party webapp like shopify?

if not a webapp, I believe you'd need to use the fb SDK. I have not used it much myself personally so I can't help there, but that should allow for it. Or a zapier rig potentially.
