So I submit a campaign, it gets approved. I start receiving impressions and notice the CTR is rubbish. I then proceed to clone the ad with a better title and pic and i get denied with this

"This product or service requires a subscription fee that is not adequately disclosed in your ad or Sponsored Story"

In my description I clearly state FREE SUBSCRIPTION and on my website it clearly states FREE NEWSLETTER.

So where are they coming up with this idea that im charging a fee for something when my description clearly states i am not.

I guess Free Subscription is not "adequately clear" enough for them?

What should I do to improve my approval rate with FB?

It's been a while since I have used facebook ads but I think that you are not allowed to use the word "FREE" in any of your titles or descriptions on the ad.

I could be wrong and am too lazy to look it up right now.

So either

1. Someone approved my previous ad by mistake with the word FREE in it or
2. Facebook has an idiot staff who decides what is what with a glance of 2 seconds.

But what I dont get is if option 1 is correct, then should I get a warning saying, ad denied, you cannot use FREE in your ads. but I got a msg saying i didnt adequately disclose the subscription fee.

Is this a free trial with rebill or are you building a list with a free giveaway?

No Free Trial or selling of anything. Its an informational website with a non intrusive optin box on the sidebar offering a subscription to a free newsletter. Not a giveaway of any sort either. It's just your typical subscribe box to be informed of new posts.

Make sure you read the facebook ads guidelines as well. As tedious and boring as it might be to read, it will help you understand what they
want more and you will get more ads approved.

If you are serious about marketing with facebook ads, read and understand what they want. http://www.facebook.com/ad_guidelines.php

H. Subscription Services
Ads for subscription services, or that promote products or services that include negative options, automatic renewal, free-to-pay conversion billing products, or mobile marketing are subject to the following requirements:
Ad text must clearly and conspicuously disclose the recurring billing component (e.g. "subscription required").
The landing page must:
display the price and billing interval wherever the user is prompted to enter personally identifiable information;
include an unchecked opt-in checkbox; and
include language informing users how to cancel their subscription or membership.
Each of the foregoing must be located in a prominent place on your landing page, as determined by Facebook in its sole discretion, and should be easy to find, read, and understand.

I did, I read their subscription guidelines.

I guess the best bet is to work around saying anything related to subscription unless im actually charging them.

Have you tried the "get free info" versus "subscribe to our newsletter" on the page. It may be something as stupid as that to get it passed

When asking for email addressed FB likes a very clear and prominent privacy policy, though they may not say that is why you are disapproved. Try putting a link on the header that says "privacy policy" and then describe in the policy exactly how you use the email address.
