Fb ad buys to fanpage LP

I see a lot of wso people push this trick, but i havent seen much of it here. i was wondering if anyone out there have seen a good ROI for buying fb ads that direct them to a fanpage with a email sub LP on it

or if anyone can posts any threads, im all ears, i havent found any good journeys or results from this.
