Depends on the site and if you're going for brandability or pure SEO power. I quite like .biz, .us and .tv domains depending on the site/niche.

basically wanted to try to see if anything else besides the big 3 have or give any EMD boost in google.

I have tried .info before and failed miserably.

Someone I know said he gets great EMD ranking results using .cc domains if hosted in the US

I was just trying to get a variety of opinions

remember hyphens aren't that bad either. If Blackhatworld dot com is taken black-hat-world dot com wouldn't be that bad of a substitute. Just don't overdo it, more than 2 hyphens is too much I think.
