Hello BHW,
What hosting can you recommend for a mid-sized Wordpress site? I'm having some horrible load time results because of my old host (Namecheap), and I now wish to change.
There's a few offers available here on BHW, but they all look the same to me. Can anyone recommend a fast web host, based on their own experience?

Optimize your site first. W3 cache and things like that. How much traffic do you get on a monthly basis?
You should use a VPS instead of shared webhosting. My suggestion would be vultr.com with DE or NL for EU traffic or US for US traffic. :D

Firstly, optimize your website first, poor-optimized one will slow down everything even if you host on a high-end web hosting.
Here is some provider that has good reputation in term of p/p: https://buyshared.net, https://www.stablehost.com/, https://www.hawkhost.com/, https://www.a2hosting.com/. Those provide extremely good performance for low-end price. Pick them by current promo and locations!
Cheers

Optimization is prio number one.

When done and the end result is still not worth it, and you don’t mind spending a couple of bucks, you might have a look at Kinsta.

It wouldn't hurt to set up a CDN like cloudflare and do a speed test after. I set up a client on cloudflare with amazing results however it was the paid version. The free one works well too. Wouldnt hurt to try before switching hosts.

Any experience with WP Engine?

I can recommend one, i am using like sharkservers.

Get a decent priced hosting and learn everything about onpage. Not all can be blamed on your hosting provider, but your skills as well (on how you optimize your site).

Although Shark is great, especially their dmca policy, I noticed that a few times the website (servers) switched locations. Something to keep in mind.

I switched over to wp engine 3 years ago. Fast as fuck, sites get backed up daily (go daddy does that now though)
