In 1hour after buying domain my site is on Googles #1st page for my main keyword which have 2400 exact search and about ?2.7 CPC.

Just wanted to share this, so you know it does not allways take that long to get indexed :p

Or maybe it's got something to do with +1.

One of my sites which I'd recently +1'ed came up on the 1st page of Google for it's primary keyword - which is a very very competitive one. I was surprised because I've hardly done any SEO on it. Naturally, I checked it with a rank checker and found out it was actually ranked #91. Google sure got me. :)

No doubt its a glitch and I got just good timing. I got only <10 domains ATM, and all of those have taken >1 day to get indexed and a lot longer to get to the 1st page, so was just shocked to see it there after only 1 hour.

    So much win here :D

Not sure why everyone says it is a glitch without seeing the site and the competition. I have about 10 sites that went to page 1 their first day and they stayed there. I did one 3 days ago that went straight to the third spot, made 12.00 the first day, 6 the second and today it is still there but has not had much for clicks which is nothing unusual as my numbers always seem lower on Fridays. This particular one could bounce since it is new but looking at the competition it is likely to stay right where it is and is 12,100 exact searches with .94 CPC.

It has happened to one of my sites before, however, it was a brand new keyword (i.e. a long tail keyword related new product launch) and so it doesn't really mean anything. Google is fairly incredible at how quickly it indexes content these days (particularly if it is news worthy / viral) and so I read nothing into it.

A month on the site is still there, but it will be a year+ before people start searching for the term and so it should have finished bouncing about and be fairly well established in its position by then.

(Associated hint: when a big product launch is announced, don't necessarily chase the initial traffic, think about what people will be searching for 6mnths+ / a year / 3 years down the line and build in anticipation of this).

    It is because:

    1. You might be logged in. Read the bottom of the URL display of your page , it will say "you have visited this site X time".

    2. Logout from google and see if its still there on the first page [i doubt it would be].

I do believe that if you +1 the page yourself, it shows up first. If you log out and clear cookies/cache and double check and your site is still #1, well great job! I've seen it happen before, but never for really competitive keywords.

It's all messed up because with all of that +1 stuff.

I think we might need small revolution in SEO.
