Faster alternative to Adobe after effects ?

Hi!
Maybe your output /project/ settings are not fine tuned./rendering/ May be your comp uses too much ram.../hidden key to allow ram works for you/
My promo video has DUR 7mins. Render time was 3 and half hours. There is no alternative to create great intros, promos.etc.
For a quick, fast and amazing result you should use "muvee Reveal" just G..it. You can use almost any graphic, video material and have absolute control.MR has presets.. click a button..
and youre done

My personal preference is Adobe After Effects.
My friend has around 512 MB of RAM and the render time is still no that high as yours so as the 1st reply suggests, there must be a problem with your Comp settings or something.
But anyways, some of the alternatives are :
Adobe Premier Pro
Sony Vegas Pro (you can find a lot of templates on Youtube for this software)

You can try out Combustion.

You can check out Wax. It is very simple and free. There is also Blender and as far as I know, it is also free. But as a user of AE, I strongly suggest you to keep on using AE with simpler templates and more importantly, with simpler settings. If your pc performance is low, try using an older version of AE. Trust me, there isn't so much difference between older and newer versions if you are going to use it only for basic intros.
