Fast ranking equals Authority?

I've started a Adsense Site about a month ago and I got good results considering the timeframe. But today I've noticed a thing that never happened before. Until ~ yesterday my Keywords needed about ten days to rank < 100 in Google. But today a fresh Article started ranking a few hours after it was published. This also happened for a KW with comparable high MS and Competition. Do you think this is a sign that my site is becoming a Authority in its niche? What are other criteria for a Authority page?
