Fanpages vs. FB Groups

In its current state and after the changes to the facebook algorythms, it seems much more difficult to reach a lot of people via facebook fanpages. Facebook Groups still seem to do fine but it is more difficult to get a lot of real members.

What do you currently prefer for monetization? What are the pros and cons of fanpages vs. FB Groups in your opinion?

Fan page reach (%) will decline over time no matter what. Reach isn't an issue for a group. You could rapidly grow a fan page with Facebook ads, but there isn't an option to promote "Join" a group. A group will grow much slowly than a page. It's a different story if your group are ranked higher in Facebook group search. Some groups get hundreds of request to join every day.

I vote FB page. FB page is unlimited likes / fans.

With the FB page, I can advertise anything through FB ads.

Groups have a higher reach but getting members to join a group is hard.

I Would go with groups then compared to pages.
But if its a Open group it will get screwed.
If its closed it won't be visible much.
SO i would rather go for targeted groups for targeted offers.

Pages will get better reach than groups but will decline over time, especially if you buy fake followers.
