Back in 2010 there was a similar issue that happened where, facebook announced that there was a major bug in the system that created an accounting error in number of people who like a page. This pissed of a lot of businesses and other people using Fanpages, since a lot of advertising money is spent by people to gain a high number of Likers. Infact, i remember reading about a presidential candidate from Philippines loosing, because of a rapid decline in the number of Fans on his page, which was his primary source of information to his supporters.

A lot of people have noticed the same, and there is very less information available about this on the internet. Maybe its because people with high volume facebook fan count loose a track if thousand people are decreased in their million people following. Or maybe this is the actual number of people who have unliked their page.

However, i have been very carefully noticing a few of the pages that i own. And also a lot of other pages of artists and public figures. With one of the page that i own, i spend descent amount in advertising and with the reports i get around 700+ Likes on a daily basis. However, i am loosing around 1000 likes in every two days. While the insights show that there are around 250 people who unliked the page. As usual facebook never responds back the the hundreds of emails sent out to them. But since this is happening again, even with pages with very less fan following, i am sure people would start noticing this soon.

    Anyone of you own pages?
Do you notice the same problem?
Do you know anything about this issue?
Major security breach or some stupid bug again?

I own alot of pages, and have noticed this, i put it down to the fact facebook recently announced they were shutting down something like 83million accounts that were either fake or inactive. So you probably are seeing a decline due to inactive accounts if they weren't purchased fake ones.

Nothing you can do really man. We are all pawns in the games of chess of the big guys and sadly they dont give a shit about us!

You are right. However, these pages do not have any BOUGHT following. Its all through advertising. Strange thing is that i have one page with almost 6000 Fake Users only, and totally inactive since last one year, and that has been gaining 15 - 20 Likes every week without any effort. Its weird situation with this Social Media Giant. I think they are just trying to earn as much money as they can and just shut it down. Voluntarily going in that direction.

Losing 1,000 likes every 2 days is quite drastic, and I haven't seen anything like that on my pages recently. On one of my fan pages with a bunch of fake followers, the number decreased from about 2,000 to 1,700 recently. Not too bad, since I usually expect to lose some of them through time. On another page with mostly real followers, the number has grown.

They may just be updating their algorithm and are temporarily reporting the wrong figure. I've seen similar things happen with youtube.
