Fake forum viewer stats....

I was wondering if anyone here knows how to make vbulletin version 4.0+ display a fake number of users currently browsing...?? I have seen this done with earlier versions and know of a forum that uses this technique to bring in advertisers under false impressions of the amount of traffic the forum receives....for example, the forum will say something like "(85 viewers)" next to the forum topic title. This technique motivates users to join and post in the forum and enhances advertiser confidence.....does anyone know how this can be done with vbulletin 4.0+??

I'll save you some time, all you really need is 1 software, and 1 vbulletin mod.

The software you need is Alexia rank enhancer (powerwebtools) to send unlimited hits to multiple links on your vb forum. its light weight and there are many copies floating around the net for free. you can have multiple instances of this program open to generate more fake traffic. this is a great way to make it look like there are a certain number of people viewing different threads.

[for example the forum main page would say -
Entertainment & News (33 viewing)
Technology & Gadgets (10 viewing)
Adult & 18+ (15 Viewing)
etc....]

or whatever number depending on how many instances of the program you have running, and which links you have the program visiting in the different sub-forums/catagories of your site.

Also search for the 'OHW member generator' mod on google. that will allow you to generate fake users on your vbulletin forum, with the click of a button. this mod automatically generates the usernames and passwords. very easy to install/import and setup/use.

another secret is to go into your >>vBulletin Options, Cookies and HTTP header options, Time-out for cookie. I think this is normally set at 900 seconds (15 minutes) so you could change it to 87000 which is just over 24 hours. that way when a user or guest views your site, they will appear to be online for the next 24 hrs. giving the appearance of a more active board. the users will be displayed on the who's online and at the bottom of the forum home.

and also you should try signing up to multiple free web monitoring services, maybe 30-40 free web monitoring services to constantly send hits to monitor your site every few minutes. that will make it appear as if more users are constantly visiting your site. and you'll also know when the site goes down.


best of all none of these methods will interfere with google analytics, or adsense impressions/counts. but it WILL increase your forum VIEWS.

hope this helps someone so they dont spend 3 months getting off the ground like I did.
