what are the best backlinks then? I've heard upvotes on reddit gets you ranked on YT...

You need to rephrase your question then.
YT'ers might correct me but as I understand it reddit sends traffic and if that traffic watches (upvotes) your videos then your video will be recommended. Upvotes help as you'd make it to the top of the subreddit so more people could potentially watch your YT video.

Facebook traffic is marginally better than Reddit traffic. Reddit is the largest freeloaders and troll site of the entire Internet.

Probably the answer is neither of them. But if you want to choose one of them I would say Reddit. Nowadays facebook is not enough for backlinks or advertisements. Reddit has gone so far for that
