    I'm not very competent with wordpress as far as modifying code and figuring out how people have done stuff... so... can anyone tell me in detail how to put a custom facebook like button and a custom twitter button next to each other at the bottom of each post. I would like the code to be in the template so it doesn't have to be done manually each post. i have inserted an image that shows the way I would like the buttons to look. When someone clicks on the buttons I would like a seperate small java window to pop up with the facebook post / or twitter tweet already done.

    im sure this is a simple task because so many sites are doing it.

    thanks in advance.

    in the image below i'm only interested in the buttons that are at the bottom of the post and not the floating bar beside the post.

    If you're doing it with wordpress then it would be much easier to just install a plugin that adds the code to your template. Like this -> wordpress.org/plugins/social-sharing-toolkit/

    Try looking at addthis & sharethis. They have very simple code to activate this feature.

    Surely it wouldn't be that hard for someone that understand php and js to link these pop share menu's to a simple button? or am i just ignorant to how difficult it really is???

    Code:
    <a href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=<?php echo urlencode(get_permalink()); ?>" target="_blank"><img src="IMAGE_URL" title="Share on facebook" /></a>
    Code:
    <a href="http://twitter.com/share?url=<?php echo urlencode(get_permalink()); ?>" target="_blank"><img src="IMAGE_URL" title="Share on twitter" /></a>
    In theme editor add this inside post loop, in my theme it's inside loop-single.php

    You can use Facebook Recommendation Widget. It may be helpful.
