Facebook share vs like

Hey I have a website where I encourage my visitors to share my site on their social network. But I'm wondering whether a like on my facebook page, or a share of my website to their friends will yield the largest amount of traffic/seo for my site?

Give em both possibilities. Shares have more visibility, but in my experience are harder to get.

Do search engines value likes and shares the same?
