Facebook SEO

Hi all seeking advice on using Facebook to promote my website as I,m one of those rare people that does not use social media. Out of necessity for SEO I have set up a Facebook account in my name and added a page for the website that is updated with regular posts transferred from my website. I currently have large amount of friend request particularly from India. My question is do I build followers by accepting all friend requests or is their another way of promoting?

Probably a very noob question but would welcome any advice.

No that's not necessary.

Edit: It's not like twitter where you look famous from followers. You can accept or just keep those request on your facebook. They doesn't matter.

i think the main purpose of using facebook is to bring Fb traffic to your site, not mainly for seo

if your account have tons of same niches "friends", when you share a content of your site, your same niche friends will see it and some might share/like your post, in result of more exposure.

when people goto your site and click on ad, you make money

I think Google does look at your engagement on Facebook as a sign of authority to be used in organic rankings, having people regularly like/share/comment on your posts is more important than having a huge amount of followers, you want a good % of your followers engaged with your brand and your channel showing consistent growth and I think Google uses that as a strong ranking signal because I've seen sites with only a couple hundred links but huge facebook channels and they rank for 100s of thousands of keywords.

Who is the target audience of your website? If people from India is one of them, then you should accept their requests. Facebook has more than a billion users every day which means more shares, comments and likes can give your site more visibility in news feed. I suggest you use the Preferred Audience Targetting so only the people who are most likely to be interested in your post will see it.

Social media is used to get traffic to your site, same as with facebook you will get good traffic from here. It would be better if you post and share in groups related to your niche. As it will increase your reach.

There is a difference between your personal profile and your site's page. The friend requests you are getting are for you (personal), but they do nothing for your site's page.

Unless your site is about you (in which case you might consider using your personal profile to promote your site, although, there are both pros and cons to this), we should be discussing only your site's page on FB.

The number of followers is important because it allows you to reach more people without paying for ads. So, one of your priorities should be growing that number. There are several tactics you can use, ranging from inviting everybody who like one of your posts to also like you page, to running contests/giveaways where each page like counts as an entry, to running ads for likes, to partnering with complementary pages to run promotional posts to each other audiences, etc.

That said, the effect of FB on SEO for your site is only indirect. FB allows you to reach audience you would otherwise not reach. That reach results in engagement (more likes and shares), which in turn continue to spread the word about your site.
