Is Facebook about to launch a search engine? Rumors claim firm set to take on Google with new service launching tonight

I'm extremely excited for this. We have begun prepping our services to target the Facebook search engine based on some tips we received last week. Today's announcement may end up not being the search engine, as there are a few things brewing at FB, but the search engine IS indeed coming either today or the very near future and it will be easy to manipulate.

Maybe not because G is a sophisticated complex very efficient SE regardless of all the negative criticism it gets...

Whereas FB have shown that all the products are fraught with problems hence why should a FB SE be any different...

I fully expect any FB SE to have a 'One brick short of a full Load' search function

It will be something that shows the facebook interaction on websites as a dominant feature, sidestepping the actual website almost, and highlighting where the social aspect is happening, anything else will be laughable

Speaking to reporters at its Menlo Park, Calif. headquarters, Zuckerberg described what he called "graph search," which allows users to sort through content that has been shared with them.

Critics have long deemed the social network's current search capabilities inadequate.

Available as a "beta" or early version now, the new feature - dubbed "graph search" because Facebook refers to its growing content, data and membership as the "social graph" - will initially let users sort through mainly photographs, people, places and members' interests, he added.

"You need to be able to ask the query, like, who are my friends in San Francisco," Zuckerberg said.

Well it is now 2 days in with the new graph search and as yet not a lot of feedback as to what is good and bad in the graph search

Maybe it is all bad hence no one can be bothered to comment...

i agree.
fb is way too greedy.
they have now crossed the line, for sure.
they will crash and burn soon from too much greed, just like everything else in life.
they actually are doing this after their instagram TOS problems? LOL
now they just sent out an email blast that tried to make it seem like the TOS event was no big deal.
they are getting a lot of negative feedback about graph search already.
