facebook script posting

can someone point me in the right direction to (programatically) make postings via facebook (i.e., on someone's wall), as well say 'automatically' clicking on a 'like' button?

doing a little bit of research, looks like i might have to do it via javascript instead of the DOM, might be a pain in the butt... looking to see if there is an easier way...
