OK so i started trying out fb ppc campaigns a few days ago, i started off d/ling the penny clicks WSO shared here, then i tryed about 5 campaigns,

the trouble is none of the campaigns even came close to a decent CTR.

heres an example,
i tryed a offer from peerfly for a "cityville $100 gift card" email submit
i set up about 10 diffrent ads with difrent pics and slightly different wording. now i let the capaign run for about 20k impressions and i only got like 10 clicks total, (2 convered so im happy about a 20% CR)

i belive the offer should have been targeted, i targeted
women
from usa
like city ville page
then i seperated different ads into different states and age groups

This isn't even one of the worst ads 0.017% CTR. Jealous??

please tell me why i this ad fails so bad

i dont see any words that make people want to take action. change your ad description
 
everytime i add any hint of a call to action it never get approved
 
there are a couple of things you can test depending on how large your budget is and how much effort u want to put in your campaigns.

if you want my ideas:

- get GUYS, i can imagine that there are far more guys playing that game and stuff...more than women

- change the picture, there were cases where not-so-professional looking ad pics got more clicks!

- target more groups or other like "cityville credits" or something like that if there are such things (i don't know much about cityville but look for more fitting groups)

- change your ad title into: Free Cityville Credits Here (or something along those lines)

And then post the results mate ;)

thanks gonna try implement as much of that as i can, although i tryed the FREE title u suggesy and never got approved! seems like they dont like that word??

will be back later with screenshot from next try
 
hey OP, try it a few times coz the approval-guys change as well and you'll find one who will approve it otherwise look for SYNONYMS to free and put that in the title and go for the approval bro!

CPM, i know i should probley use cpc to start with untill i get a ad with a decent CTR, but im not too borthered about losing a couple of dollars to test, im just concerned with finding the best stratergy
 
I have the same problems, that ads never get approved if I add call to action words.

There you go. Thats your mistake. CPM ads always get poor ad inventory.

Switch it to CPC and I am sure your results would be different.

You could also try targeting males/females separately. And split it further down into age groups - 18-25, then 25-30 and so on.

Don't be lazy, there is still huge money to be made on Fb.

you are being lazy, cutting corners on the work.

and now you are here, wanting some advice.

Run it CPC to get the data first.

then switch it to CPM when you understand the campaign.
