Facebook Places?....Big Idea!?

Hey guys, well this is a question for all you guys who have looked into this.

I run an events company and had a good idea about utilizing Facebook places for our events. My question is to you is for anyone to tell me if this is possible...

I would love to have some of our staff at our entrance who normall collect data to be able to have an iPad or something or a generic computer that kind of just has a landing web page that just contains something like...

IM AT 'EVENT NAME & LOCATION' ....CHECK ME IN BUTTON.

And then through this link, once logged in it will automatically check them in at our location...with people all over facebook seeing blah blah is actually AT our event. Getting good numbers doing this would be really good promotion!...Just can it be done technically!?
