Hi everyone, I do Facebook Ads for an ecommerce brand. There is a developer guy which sometimes is working on the website and always doing Test purchases without using Facebook test events. And the problem is that when he is not doing tests, I get good amount of sales but when he is working on website and doing test purchases, I have zero sales and the problem is that pixel is reading all his purchases and the algorithm is destroying. Anyone knows what should I tell to the developer guy like how to make the tests purchases, using the Facebook Test Event or is there any easier way for him? Thanks in advance

Any decent dev should know how to set up a staging environment to run tests.

I think you should tell him exactly what you told us. That he is pushing real conversion events to the pixel and it’s messing up the algorithm.

If possible, configure the website in the test environment to disable the Facebook Pixel or any other tracking tools. That will ensure the test actions in the development environment do not send signals to the production Pixel.

The testing ideally shouldn't interfere with your the base operations. If it does tangle somehow, the false-positive from the test purchase will mess up your numbers.

pixels need to be installed on the website so that the metrics can be read. Does he do the same as you?

The pixel needs to be installed on the website for metrics to be readable

To address the issue of the developer's test purchases affecting your Facebook pixel and ad performance, suggest using Facebook Test Events or setting up a separate test environment. Alternatively, implement IP filtering or encourage the use of dummy data for testing. Maintain open communication and coordinate testing activities with the developer.

You can tell him to use test events, or set up his own test environment, to avoid affecting the algorithm

Suggest to him that using Facebook Experiment Events will help improve the quality of data collected from the Pixel and provide the ad algorithm with the information it needs to optimize campaigns.
