Facebook 'page' or 'group'

Hello

I have not used any Facebook for my newly created niche site and I am wondering about whether it is better to start a facebook page or group?

I dont want it linked in any way to my personal facebook account, if that makes any difference.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

It depends what you're trying to achieve but pages are generally used for sites/business to share news and promotions, while groups are for communities to discuss a specific topic/niche. With pages, it is you creating most of the content but with groups, it's everyone, kind of like a forum. Pages also give you more authority and the ability to post under your business/page name. In groups, you have to use your main account name.

If you want it to be an extension of your site I would suggest creating a page.

But visibility-wise, looking in the long-term, groups seem like a better option. Right?
Of course, if you know how to tweak 'em and make sure not everyone can make new posts but just comment.
