OK, so I was thinking about ways I can contact some data I have. A decent list of highly targeted names and email address for a niche I work in. The list grows by a few hundred every month.
I used to email this list, first by simply asking a question many couldn't resist answering - so that the email provider wouldn't blacklist my IP as sending spam, and then I would give a pitch with a link to my site.
Now it's got to the point that my site needs to be more legit, as I've secured contracts with other companies, so it's now a LTD company.
As a result my previous approach won't work as well, as it can potentially create a bad name for the business (being linked to spam).
Having thought about it I decided to make a facebook profile of an attractive, but normal looking girl (as my target market is male dominated and they're more likely to happily add a female stranger). I filled in the profile, and imported a load of contacts.
My plan now is to simply "friend" all of the data, and include a link to my company's facebook fan page from the fake girl's personal profile, along with some other links, to make it look normal. This way I think I'll actually get more conversions.
Now my experience with facebook is actually very limited. I deleted my personal profile years ago, and so I have a couple of questions for those of you that use it.
Firstly, when I joined, I added about 20 people before facebook declared my account was blocked from adding for 14 days. The mistake I made was to add from the list of people they suggest, instead of my list (I think).
What I want to know is -
what are the limits for friending people?
Is there a ratio limit like with Twitter?
Anything else you think I should know?
As always, I appreciate your input, guys.
