Some pages with a huge fan base run giveaways and contests. These giveaways and contests often ask viewers to like their page, like the post, comment the post, and share the post. Although it is against TOS, nobody cares - I know I don't.

How do these companies pick a winner?! The only thing I can find or think of is that they pick the winner by hand.

Obviously they pick it by hand lol put all the names in a list then close your eyes and point lmao

I have used rafflecopter for facebook campaigns. Users get points for liking your page, sharing it, or anything else you tag a point to. Give it a try.

They have made a software now, which takes care of it

There are many contest service providers. Like Woobox or Offerpop. You can contact them if you want to host a contest.

I know some companies have a strange algorithm that always picks a ghost.... or a shill that'll take a picture with some fictitious prize.

I don't think reputable companies cheat when doing giveaways as the amount of sales they get from the process does not spur them to do so
