Not sure how this will play out with fan pages on fb - if 'liking' a fan page would still allow the fan page to publish updates to news feeds, I can see this being a huge boost for all marketers, as facebook users are far more likely to click like, rather than become a fan.

However, if the new like function works similarly to what we see in use now on facebook, it's about to get a whole lot harder to push your wares.

And it might be time to say goodbye to "become a fan, fill out this cpa survey, see funny picture" niches.

I don't think they'll change update publishing, that's all pages are about.

I understood they're just changing the name and that could or could not be good. It's definitely not good for "you have to become a fan to see this.." pages... It's not gonna be easy to say "you have to like this page to see this" lol... and that's probably what they want to achieve with this

So instead of "Shaky became a fan of Blackhatworld", it'll be "Shaky liked Blackhatworld" ?

According to a confidential e-mail sent to ad agencies today, the social media site will change the "Become A Fan" button to read "Like" within the next few weeks.

Either the bandwagon will be torn to pieces or be risen to a whole new level...

I'd like to think the former since facebook is trying to kill spammers.

I don't really see the reason for the change. Even if its because of Spammers, its not really going to change the way they roll...

Did you not read the whole thing? they are changing it to INCREASE click rate because users are clicking "like" more often than "Become a Fan"

This is good news for everyone if you are half-witted to change the phrasing on your pages to sound more appealing than "You have to like this page to blah blah" ...
