Facebook is about to take its most intrusive advertising to a new medium ? video ? and it could be the most annoying yet.

Un-skippable Facebook video ads might seem like the greatest innovation in decades for major marketers, who have been coping with diminishing and fragmented television audiences for decades. Facebook says 88 million to 100 million people are on the service during primetime TV hours, almost as many people who watched this year?s Super Bowl.

But users might revolt; it?s happened before, many times before.

After all, people are flocking to social networks to see cute pictures and silly posts from friends and family, not to sit through ads for pickup trucks, allergy pills and fast food.

I really don't see users revolting over that, there's unskipable advertisement on Youtube too. Those who are most tech-savvy will just use Adblock, for all the others I bet they won't even notice it wasn't there before.

    "ruining"

Did the video ads ruin the superbowl? Did the video ads ruin youtube? Will the Video ads ruin Vine?

    Of course not :)

The internet has prepared their audience for video ads everywhere since like 2007, and facebook is only jumping in the bandwagon ever since they announced that instagram would support videos.

Agreed. Users said they would revolt when the first sidebar ads were introduced, and then all the millions of UI changes. Users are already to ingrained (read: addicted) into the system, that they won't give up their habit over another ad. Facebooks video ads are set to bring in >4mil a day, I doubt they would give that up when investers are pushing for more and more profits.

I am waiting for the day "they" stop us from using adblock.

I sometimes go to sites that refuse you entry unless you disable adblock.

I am shocked that greedy ass YT hasn't took that step yet.

    Its coming, sooner or later.

This is kind of off topic but I feel eventually, years from now, most YT vids will be a paid service.
prob sort of like a paid cable TV network, with various plans
