Facebook got rid of hyperlink

But you can still click on the link... they just need to click the preview instead of the link text right?

Yeah you will be now forced to click their preview instead of their url which will track you @bartosimpsonio knows that

urls pasted on fb are shortener by their facebook shortener. you guys dont see it becasue they appear normally but theres http meta refresh redirect in a href tag, they just use your url as anchor lmao.

probably they couldnt include too much tracking stuff in shortener urls so now you wil have to click thumbnail and it will let them store more data

plus one link instead of two gives less link juice, especially some thumbnail

Link previews aren't generated for all versions of facebook. I know m.facebook and mbasic don't generate link previews. Just a matter of time before they remove hyperlinks from mobile messenger as well.

Gonna have to disagree with you on that one. I think it's going to cause more of an inconvience to most users. People share links all the time throughout the day. Not being able to click it will just be flat out inconvienent. Everyone will lose, including Facebook.
You are free to disagree of course, it still doesn't change neither the fact, nor the reason.

Sometimes sites need to do countermeasures, which affect the user experience negatively to protect their users, their own resources from the bigger bad aka spammers. It's a stage in the evolution of the fight against spammers. Some sites are already past this, while others aren't.

Can users do anything against this? Nope. It will be inconvenient, yes, but eventually they will be just fine.

Effect on spammers: devastating.
Effect on every day users: inconvenience and at the same time less spammers, more positive user experience.
Effect on FB: less spammers, less resource usage and more visitors stay on the site.

You can be sure that a company like FB doesn't do things on a whim, everything is thoroughly thought through and tested.

I can't imagine that the average user will be happy with this change, the average user doesn't see many spammers via message, most spamming is done in comments on popular posts, so this change is nothing but an inconvenience

Update: As I predicted, it was just a bug. Hyperlinks are back.

facebook becoming shit day by day. dont know what they actually want. restrictions everywhere. Now they need photo id for even creating accounts with my personal phone numbers,.

Why do you bother creating new accounts? Buy aged quality accs from a distinguished seller from the marketplace. Sure, it's much tougher now a days but you can still make decent bucks with the right methods. Good luck.
