Facebook Going Going Gone…

Why would any marketer want Facebook to fall? buy, start buying fuuuck...

Facebook shares drop 4pc as employees offload stock

Restrictions preventing employees from selling 229m shares came to an end, sparking the staff sell-off and rattling Facebook?s broader pool of investors. It prompted the biggest fall in the social network?s value for five weeks.

The so-called lock-up period was imposed to stop a flood of shares hitting the market immediately after the company?s May flotation, meaning many of the workers it turned into paper millionaires could only stand by as their investments nearly halved in value. Facebook?s share price has dropped as much as 50pc since its disastrous $104bn flotation. Its market capitalisation stood at $45.5bn on Thursday, after shares in the social network fell 0.94 to $21 by mid-afternoon trading in New York.

Analysts said many Facebook staff receive the majority of their pay in shares, and have been living beyond their means since the flotation. ?A whole lot of them are living way above what their salary will justify. The day that it unlocks, you?re just asking people to sell,? said Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities.

The restriction which expired on Thursday is one of a number of lock-ups on Facebook shares.

Soon people will see that fb is BS when they post something and it asks them if they want to pay money to show it to more people I think they will start to wake up.

^^^^^This^^^^^

Talking to my 76 year old father the day after Father's Day this year and he let me know I was the only child that contacted him and wish him a happy Father's Day out of 5 of us children. As soon as I got off the phone with Dad I called all my brothers and sisters and asked wtf. You just take for granted our 76 year old father will be around for another Father's Day?

One brother apologized and got on the phone to Dad and did what was right. The other 3 said they wished Dad a happy Father's Day on FB and for me to mind my own business. Now understand my 76 year old Father can hardly turn on a computer and only logs into FB about once a month if he's lucky. I told my POS brothers and sisters to remember this BS when Dad is gone and you didn't take the time to visit or pick up the frickin phone to wish him a happy Father's Day.

Fuk FB and all the people that think it's a telephone or replacement to personal contact. Communicate with people you don't really give a shit about on FB but when it comes to family and real friends then pick up the phone, visit or go out to dinner once in a while. Nothing replaces personal dialog or people taking the time to call or visit. I hate FB and haven't been on there in 3 mos and hope I never log in again. I only keep an account to help Dad when he gets stuck and rings my phone asking me how to navigate that POS site. FB won't die fast enough for me.

Since FB the word "friend" has been diluted to mean nothing. A friend now is someone that wouldn't offer you a ride if your car broke down in the middle of a desert. People with a thousand "friends" that couldn't scrape together $10 between all of them if a guy was homeless and didn't have a dollar for food. That's what friend means today.

sorry for the fb rant - I hate that fukin site.
You so right.
I also have some old family members that can't turn on a computer they don't understand the technology.
So what is the problem to take the phone and call.

Beyond all of the facebook bashing, you guys gotta see the new potential.
Facebook now has to please the shareholders, and that's why we're seeing all this crazy development in the marketing tools they have (advertising on the news feed with mobile included!!). In my opinion, it`s an opportunity for all of us who are into marketing.
Also, as someone who has experience in stocks and IPOs.. there`s a lot of reasons the stock is going down. It definitely doesn`t mean it won`t come back up. There`s a lot of work and heavy PR going behind the scenes that are influencing it to move the way it is. The wall street hot shots may just be crushing the stock to buy back cheap, or even create a short squeeze situation.. which creates a mega whiplash in the stock going up. Now I`m not saying this will happen.. but we have to trust that there`s a lot going behind the scenes, that we have no clue about.
