Facebook Going Going Gone…

Facebook may be taking the financial plunge but you can still pull great traffic off it if you know what you're doing. It will eventually fade out I'm sure, thats why I already started moving away from it.

It would be ridiculous to leave or move away from the highest ranking social network in the world when the only thing dropping is its public stock. Customer use has little to nothing to do with stock. Didn't anyone here go to business school?

Something seriously wrong with facebook when they do not have the common respect and decency to remove this

The devastated mother of a four-year-old boy lost at sea has condemned internet trolls who set up a ghoulish Facebook page pretending to be her missing son.

Dylan Cecil disappeared in waters in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, after walking on to a jetty to get a closer look at the sea.
Now two days after he vanished, the child's heartbroken parents have suffered new anguish after a troll created a profile in Dylan's name with the message: 'To my mum, my daddy and sisters and sea side grandparents I love you all am in heaven waiting on you all. I'll be looking down on you.'

The youngster tumbled into treacherous waters from a slipway, with his parents, Rachel McCollum and Darren Cecil, both jumping in after him and having to be pulled out by passers-by several minutes later.

Paramedics treated the couple for water ingestion while lifeboats launched a search for the boy, who was fully clothed when he fell at 6pm on Sunday.

It emerged today that amid the heartfelt tributes to the boy from friends and family, vile pranksters have set up an online profile in Dylan's name.

Problem is I do not think Facebook even started with common respect and decency.

IMO you are wrong, controlling interest is controlling interest. It is held by a ego-manic who does not understand business. They have no product that anyone wants. That is why they are tanking.

Facebook's whole problem is that you can't really monetize social. You might as well put up a SEO booth at a NFL game. People in social situations do not buy, they socialize. When they are ready to buy, they follow established buying patterns. Very few people will go to facebook to find a new vacuum cleaner or someone to clean their carpet. They search online for it, or go to a local establishment, or both.

Even with all the "social signals" crap, I cannot see where likes, shares, or tweets have made a difference in ranking a keyword on ANY site I am promoting.

With respect dude you are wrong people do care when they are getting f**ked over wholesale!

Moreover facebook is no longer owned by MZ he may have the holding interest advantage but Wall Street call the shots and they can make billions selling short and sending this waste of space company down the cracker!

Facebook is not about technology it is about money?

What's going to replace "social" networks? How about actual, one-on-one, social communication with real friends that you can call up and have lunch with.

The sooner all of these narcissistic social networks go away, the sooner we can go back to having a society with integrity again.

Exactly. People say I'M antisocial because I don't go to the bar/club every weekend; I'd prefer to stay at home and drink some beer by the BBQ. But those same people take their damn smartphones out with them and barely talk to anyone when they go out; they just sit there tapping away on Facebook or something.

Had facebook stuck to its original intent, then it would have been alright. Their advertising tactics are corrupt. Their timeline feature is horrible. They should have stuck to their roots.

instagram needs to go more social, and less all about images, if they did that, it could replace facebook easily. Especially since instagram is all mobile, and on the go and what not :b

But facebook owns instagram so why turn on itself? It just bought it because it was a threat.. If instagram gets big then great for FB and if it fails then its also great for FB.

Things got worse for Facebook Friday, and its stock fell to a new low, as several Wall Street analysts covering the company turned more negative on the social networking leader.

Facebook stock (FB) closed down $1.03, or 5.4%, to $18.06 after research firm BMO slashed its price target on the stock from $25 a share to $15, reflecting lower expectations for revenue growth.

The continued fall of Facebook shares is cementing Facebook as potentially one of the worst debuts for a initial public offering (IPO) in such a short period of time

I think i m the only member of BHW who doesn't have a profile or page on facebook. Never gone beyond their homepage.

I will replace them. Im in the process of finishing up my business plan. We are seeking 15million investment. We have 1 investor that is interested. Gave brief concept just wants to see final paln. It is not in the social realm where you can post pictures and find out when someone took a shit but we are onto something big, in which user count has extreme value. Different but some aspects are used.

forum sites will rise, slow but steady.

Vbulletin 3.x.x is the best platform on the internet.

Wordpress is pretty good too, but doesn't even hold a candle to the amount of social interaction that forums generate.

I couldn't agree with you more.

You have a blue name, and I guess that means something, but unless you have a working model of your plan/idea/vision it doesn't mean much at all in terms of acquiring VC.

Good luck

Those who short sell made quite big profit...lol

FB share was hyped its price and it fell down as expected.

I am thinking what would be the good price to take long again... Any thought?

Moral of the story:

Traffic is useless in absence of a revenue model to monetize it.

Always remember what happened right after Facebook went public: Mark sold a portion of his shares and made a billion dollars.
I don't think he even cares if Facebook stock gets delisted now.

But as a trader, I must say this: Never assume, never hope, and never be greedy.
I'm seeing posts that says like, "I believe it will go up" (Sign of Hope), "Just short facebook" (Greed). They are all just assumptions.
Fundamentals like facebook have lots of potential doesn't matter at all. When everyone loses hope on this stock, everyone will start cashing out... this brings panic-selling even if facebook has lots of "potential".

That is why I never give an opinion whether to buy or sell this stock. Just flow with the market.

ARNHEM, The Netherlands (Reuters) - A 15-year-old Dutch boy was sentenced to a year in juvenile detention on Monday for stabbing to death a girl whose Facebook posts reportedly led to a contract for her killing.

The case, known in the Netherlands as the "Facebook murder", caused widespread debate about the role of social media in violent crime.

The court said the boy did not know the victim and had murdered her "at the request or instructions of others".

Dutch media reported that the 15-year-old victim, named in court documents as Winsie, had argued for weeks with two friends on the social networking site before they allegedly asked the defendant, who was 14 at the time, to kill her.

He was offered a 1,000 euro payment, the media reported.

"I am not happy with one year for my daughter's life," her father said outside the courthouse. "But that's what the law book says. We were powerless and so were the authorities."

As stated earlier, I think all dotcom's are nonsense, they're all overvalued. Most stocks are. I'm a commodities and bond type person when it comes to the market.

Myspace never had the name Facebook did. Facebook is a very broad website. I know many people's incomes whom depend on their local connection to people.

Facebook will die. In time.

I agree. The only dotcom I wish I could have got in on is Google. Too late :(
