Facebook Going Going Gone?

Facebook shares are now in free fall and that suits the players who are selling short

Friday, May 18, 2012 Closed at $38.23, up 0.6% from IPO price
Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 Closed at $19.05, 50% below IPO price

They have tried to shaft every man and his dog on the way up!

Now is payback time on the way down?

The sooner this shambles of a site goes the way of MySpace Digg et al the better?

Can't wait for it to fail. As soon as they started facial recognition + said fuck your privacy with their changes I've wanted them to fail hard.

Facebook's IPO was a loser from the beginning.

There whole advertising platform is flawed big time. When you buy advertising, you want it going to your sales page, not your fan page.

I personally think almost every dot com IPO is a sinking ship.

Dang !!! I had same question, I dont think G+ can replace by FB but I like the fact that dumb site not worth as it claimed...,

IMHO people are tired of social nonsense, and simple social platform like G+ or Microsoft's So.Cl doesn't have a chance.

Facebook and alike become popular because they were more than social. For example:

- LinkedIn became popular because it managed to cover the 'job seeking' niche, and it was smart enough to keep covering that - its useful, hence the popularity. Social by itself plays a minor part.

- Facebook became popular because initially it covered the 'dating' niche. However, unlike LinkedIn it lost that niche pretty fast, and became just another useless social platform.

- Google+ tried to be social+ and nothing else. Well, it never raised off the ground.

Platform that will replace Facebook has to be useful to people in some sense.

Twitter has already surpassed Facebook. So many people prefer it over FB. Celebs are all over that shit, FB became the old Myspace

Facebook + Google are sacks of shit who lie and cheat openly, so why would they ever keep loyal "customers".

I can't see the future myself, but I know people are tired of their monopoly and as people are growing more tech savy with iphones etc users can switch sites and apps in the blink of an eye... things can get viral stupidly quick and I reckon the next big thing is probably not even out yet. I can picture a hybrid of twitter + pinterest gaining big interest.

What's going to replace "social" networks? How about actual, one-on-one, social communication with real friends that you can call up and have lunch with.

The sooner all of these narcissistic social networks go away, the sooner we can go back to having a society with integrity again.

Okay, facebook replaced myspace when myspace went corporate and sold to Rupert Murdoch. Now... why do we need a replacement? What is the point?

The sad thing is, while facebook is crashing and burning, all of the snot-nosed employees are cashing in and selling it on the way down.

They also spend billions. Last quarter they posted a loss, which is why they are tanking in the first place.

Moreover facebook is no longer owned by MZ he may have the holding interest advantage but Wall Street call the shots and they can make billions selling short and sending this waste of space company down the cracker!

True that about FB. With some of the recent additions I've noticed YouTube quietly enabling recently, I wouldn't be against their money & technology... and you KNOW they'll be there with a boot on the throat of Facebook at every opportunity - unless they decide to buy FB outright down the road?

All I have to say is, I can't wait for them to make a movie about this! haha, title "the company that thought they were badass turned out to be a big flop!"
