How can one check whether the fans he has bought are real or fake? Any tool to do that?

I'm starting to doubt the validity of buying fans myself. After spending an afternoon trying to find a service that provides true fans, all of the information appears vague and/or elusive.
I would love someone to give me insight into how to attract certain markets? FB insights doesn't appear to tell you anything about demographics, and from what I understand "Like" sellers don't either.
