Hello Blackhatters,

I have been a member of this forum for a while now and have learn't many different black hat methods. Recently I have started to take a white hat approach in a new field. For the last 4 years I've been making my income through black hat internet marketing whilst doing live music on the side. Now I want to mix both my marketing skills with my music. Has anyone had any experience promoting themselves (as an artist) through Facebook?

I have managed to get over 100 real, highly engaged likes on my page so far. I can see a huge difference between active highly engaged followers on my music page in comparison to the likes I have received on other business pages. Has anyone got any tips or methods to help further promote my page to people who may like my music (IE Highly engaged likes)? I have used a few black hat methods to promote the page, but I don't like doing black hat methods whilst using my real name, as I'm sure you lot will understand.

Some of the methods I have used are:

  • Inviting all friends.
  • Getting friends to invite friends.
  • Sharing my page
  • Getting friends to share my page
  • Inviting friends from fake Facebook accounts (Worked quite well)
  • Commenting on artists fan page posts with similar music then voting to top. (Top comments)

I have an acoustic musical style using a loop pedal.

All help will be greatly appreciated and hopefully can help other artists looking for the same answers.

A bit off the mark here from what you are asking, am just looking for a place to rant and vent, i had a fake facebook account, it got blocked whilst i was trying to do some graph search, another one was put on warning for join too many groups, basically am not even allowed to post, what in the world is facebook doing?...tying my arms here is what they are doing...am livid...any similar friendly social site that does seem to have weird stringent rules???

All the best in your endeavors bro.

Not to sure on the purpose of this thread. I like the music however. I use a loop pedal as well, and man oh man can I get lost in that things for hours on end!

I think the main factor of success for a musician is content.
You should create and promote more viral content especially on youtube.
One of my favorite case-stydies is Hadouken! band.
They create inspiration videos from other people videos (the most popular series — PEOPLE ARE AWESOME) and use their own music in these videos. This how Hadouken! promote their songs.
I think you can use this method.
Other idea is to create cover versions of popular songs — it always work

try to use
mp3 sharing sites like
soundcloud, grow your audience there and filter it to your Facebook page
on the other side you can invest some money on Facebook campaigns to grow fast

Hmm ! Pretty goood.. But I want to try it. No sure for success.

The best way for you to grow, is to invest at least $2 a day and set up custom audience ads on Facebook.
