Facebook Fan Building

I am doing SEO and SMM for a company that sells a dog product. They have about 350 fans and I have ownership access to a dog breed page with about 1,000 fans. Can anyone share best practices for building fans with such a low number. I feel like it's hard to get the 350 fans active with sharing and getting the page out there. Also is it worth it to try to build up the breed page with 1,000 fans and use that to help build up the product page?

I need help getting them sales or I stop getting paid!

This is a good question. It would seem that you are hitting on two goals here: one being getting more fans on the company's page and another converting those fans to paying customers.

As far as getting fans, you need to engage the ones you already have. You can do that by posting engaging content on a regular basis. You know your market the best so only post as much as you think will be appropriate. Make sure you are sharing content that is not self-promotional but helpful to your target market. Post content that is sharable like video, images and things people will want to share with friends. When they share with their own networks, those people may be more likely to visit the fan page and like it. Reach out to people by having a two way conversation. With almost every post, configure it in a way that gets people involved by asking questions or allows you to respond to them. Of course always respond to someone's post or comment.

Another method you could use to build more of a following is by using a fan-gating application. If you aren't familiar with these its an application that offers some type of content (video, information, or something like that) in exchange for liking the page.

As far as converting people, try an share content that leads them back to your website where you can get them to enter a conversion funnel. For example if the company had a blog post about dog grooming you could post a link to the blog on the Facebook page and lead people to the post where they may click through to the rest of the site and buy something. You could also set up an application on the Facebook page to capture lead information such as emails addresses or phone numbers for people interested in some type of content there. Perhaps a newsletter even.

Hi, I see you posted your question about how to increase the number of likes to a Facebook Page earlier, but my answer may be useful for other people looking for this information, so I write it.

To increase the number of fans, and to build your list (latter is that I recommend as FB is starting to be change a lot and you can't really count on it) you may run promotion campaign, like sweepstakes, quizes, coupons and group offers. These competitons are good because you may require people to like you rpage, then you can get their mail address. You can also motivate people to spread the owrd about your promotion so they get more entries, and your promotion app will spread virally.

You can create such apps by yourself if you can do the code part, or you may use tools like Wildfire, Strutta, Votigo or our tool, Antavo.
