Do Facebook Events have any advantages over Fan Pages and Groups?

Can't you message everyone in the Event, or is there still a 5,000 max limit just like groups on messaging people.

To answer your question the advantage of a facebook event is that there is no limit to the ammount of people you message! Thats the beauty of it!

Yes, you can message all of them from "give the event an update to all members" and it PM's them, i am yet to grow a large event and this is something i aim to explore this week. Although i have a friend that has a rather large one!

I had an event with over 3k members, of course thats nothing compared to some people. But if you get past 5k, you can still message all the people in the event :)

So if you have one of those "hug a person day" events with 600,000 people, Facebook will allow you to mail that many people.

Any evidence of extreme amounts of event people working with mailing them?

This recent Mashable article says there is a 5K messaging limit.
    http://mashable.com/2009/10/14/facebook-events-guide/

Does anybody here have first-hand experience with sending out more than 5K messages... actually more importantly, has anybody verified that these messages are being received when you go over 5K in an event?

Can anybody post a link to a large event where it looks like the creator is marketing something... I'm curious to see this in action.

I also would like to know if events as of today can post messages to more than 5000 people, if they can't it makes events just as worthless as groups. Then pages once more shall be worth the most to marketers.

i could test it mike, but im scared, because the creator of my 2nd event (first was the fanpage itself, bad idea...) was the fake account which got a big warning and disabled fanpage ;)

but i know for sure that on the normal way http://www.facebook.com... you can only send messages to ALL the invited people (even the not attending) if the event got LESS than 5k

if you create the event as fanpage you cant even do that.

if you go NOT the normal way but m.facebook.com (just change the link to your event) you´re able to message them all

    # Invite People to Come
    # Promote Event with an Ad
    # Edit Guest List
    # Cancel this Event
    # Edit Event

thats the "menue" i see on www.

    Send message to:
    All
    Attending
    Maybe Attending
    Not Yet Replied

thats the additional menue on m.

what i do not know is, if you can still send them updates and messages after the event is in the past
