Previously, there was a front end search page on facebook (advanced.php) which gave the capability of very specific search criteria such as 'female, 18-25, interests keyword: soccer' and then when you search you would get a list of everyone fitting all three of those.

Now that this search option is gone (for obvious reasons), are there back end ways to do this?

Yeah it was pretty useful. So now that it's gone (it's been gone for a long time now), I had renewed hope that there may be another way when I ran across this forum today. I actually ended up registering because there's a lot of content and discussion on here that I wasn't even aware there were forums that specialized in.

maybe there is one but I doubt it, just be careful, I'd say

Well right now it's just literally not possible through facebook itself. So I can't even be careful with adding people from a certain demo because all searches are based purely by name now, no extra criteria.

It's not impossible because facebook allows you target it specific demographics through facebook ads.

Yeah, I don't know anything really about coding, or back-end database links, but I know like with Yahoo there are tons of things programmers can crawl to get user data at a much faster rate in ways that yahoo doesn't make available at all through interfaces they create for its site users. There must be a few people here who have come across this with facebook, it's just to valuable of a technique to have been ignored for there not to be. I think it's just a matter of them stumbling across this thread:)
