Facebook 'Dating' - My Experience

Has anybody found Facebook as a way of meeting the opposite sex?

I started the other week and things seem to be going in the right direction. I'll share what I do (very simple) and people can add their 2 pence/cents worth.

What you'll notice is that most of the time if you view a profile of someone who you both have a Mutual Friend with, Facebook will allow you to 'poke' them. What I do is poke X amount of people per day who I like the look of and who live nearish to me - if the Mutual Friend is local there's a higher chance the other person will be.

Now and again that person pokes back... and this goes on a few times back and forth before I message them with something like:
"Hey; I hope I didn't poke you to death I just happened to notice we're both friends with X and thought I'd randomly poke" ... you get the drift.

They sometimes message back and before you know it you've added each other as a friend and start chatting away.

I have 34000+ females on a Myspace account and so sent out an event invite for them to add me to my Facebook... most no longer seem to use Myspace or log in frequently but I've still had a few hundred add me... they all have female friends ... it's all about networking! :o

I met a lass last week actually which started from this method and although I think I'd prefer her as a friend it goes to show that it does work.

With the current conversion rate i think 2 cents would work out at around 1.3p ;)

Anyway, i think thats a really good method - All manual work yes?

Are you sending them dating offers (affiliate) after that then?

No this is purely for meeting women not making money. Yeah it's all manual - for now. Any thoughts on making it a bit more automated?
 
Oh i see what you mean. So you are using your own personal account as a way of dating a women (real life?)

No I'm using the 2nd account for meeting women and yeah I've met a few offline but only one so far using this method.

I often get people adding me who I think look like the back end of a train smash, but instead of deleting them they may well have a friend who is my future wife! haha. So now I don't deny or delete them I just accept them and then browse their friends.

The same applies for women who are already in a relationship - they still have female friends so no point deleting them. They just act as the 'Mutual Friend' for more people that's all.
 
Oh i see what you mean. Well the best way to do this is by hand - don't get anything to automate it as you should chose the ones you think look nice :)
 
No offense, but maybe you should just go out and meet some women IRL instead :)

LOL this reminds me of something I wanted to sell when I was teh noob

go write an ebook on how u can pick up chicks using a fb/ms bot and tell them to buy the software.. cha ching.. if you're making it work then get all the proof setup and distribute the ebook free everywhere!
 
OMG... this is a story of how this guy is meeting girls.... hahaha theres nothing about making money here. Look close at his screen name... Im sure someone here has already ewhored him atleast once. And people say ewhore is dead!
 
I have dated alot of women off of myspace in the past. Only 1 or 2 off of facebook. I dont know why but myspace has better quality. People just go onto facebook to bitch about their problems.

Yes, but people can take his method a step further and make some cash ;)
 
lol this seems like a good method. I like the poking in the begining, but if you change the message after the poking to something like what a drama queen might say, but as a joke it might work better, for example:

"Omg, you keep poking me. I know you're in love with me, but you need to stop touching me :P ... I have feelings too :) "

If you know Swinggcat, you'll recognize the structure.

I've used this kind of stuff with girlies, its a nice trick. Good way of flirting, as long as they have a fun side. :D

This should be in the lounge!

Myspace is better for meeting women. Facebook seems to be more about creating a stronger network with people you already know. I'm going to give Facebook dating a chance.
