Facebook bought instagram photo sharing site for 1$ billion

Billion dollar company and I never heard of it till now.
I was thinking how all these web 2.0 companies produce nothing, they sell nothing, everything is uploaded by users. Yet worth billions. Crazy times

I wouldnt doubt it since facebook makes millions a day. They are expanding, which is some serious Sh*tf

Users are the products for web 2.0. more the users, more reach, then ads and stuffs.

As for instagram thing, my thought is that mark zuckerberg thought they will beat facebook as the biggest photo sharing sensation. So he had to buy it. Thats what big companies do these days, buy the competition (if you can) or sue them for something stupid. :D

I seriously hope that Instagram doesn't change now that it is bought out by facebook.

The app works awesome! So hopefully it will stay the same.

Do you think that there will be any opportunity for affiliates in this venture?

I don't think they will change since Facebook also gets the employees from Instagram. They'd probably want to keep the same goal and vision intact but just enhance to way further.

The fact that instagram is practically still a start-up (started 2010) makes me so f*****g jealous... They have only 13(!) employees FFS!!! $77M x 13 = The most expensive company EVER bought/sold in the history of mankind... I am going to throw up now. okbye

Here, you can use my bucket, cuz I already threw up.

You might be right and I'm wrong, but I read on Mashable that Instagram only has 9 employees. I also read that they've only been around for 17 months! Either way, this definitely a huge sale!

Instagram was launched maybe a year and a half ago? That's the quickest billion dollar company ever. lol.

I think for less than billion dollars I could make a Instragram clone.
But I agree with Nirose.

Quote from Nirose post:
