facebook advertising

l read around BHW that facebook advertising is only good for some niches but much better if your a large company with a bigger budget.

what's it like to grow my official actors fanpage is facebook advertising any good for an actor to grow his page likes? its currently at 8,000 i tried a "Like" CAMPAIGN and they was charging me about £1.61 per like which is so expensive.

Any tips? would i save money on "Likes" if i target my local area? because i am sure no other actor is promoting his page in my local area, do you save money if no other actor is promoting their profile in that area? if so that would make sense to promote in rural areas, If i promote in the city and not the the town for example, would this cost more?

Any advice is really appreciated,
