I herd rumors that they just use dropshippers (not sure about the truth on that one). What do you think? Any ideas who they get from?

I have never heard this. I am not sure where they would get their stuff from. But they have so much stuff on their site that it is possible that they have to use dropshippers.

I also have never heard of them. They have alot of stuff and I think they would be dropshipping unless they are a big company

Yeah...We all know that, that was the point I was bringing up in this thread...The question was "WHO"

For you other peeps who have never herd of them, they are, I guess...popular with hipster crowds and young entrepreneurs and stuff.... They also have massive online advertisement budgets.

Just alone getting a 3 letter domain name is not 50$.... Their Alexa is @ 1661

We are not messin' around here!

Just some tidbits I know about Fab...

They focus on being a "discovery engine" instead of a catalog style commerce site, and they've developed a platform for early stage designers/entrepreneurs to promote their own products.
90% of the products on Fab can't be found on Amazon.
They get between 30-40% of their traffic from mobile.
They did ~$150MM last year, and ~25% of that was from outside the US.

    Not your typical drop-ship setup.

I have actually came across YANKO DESIGN, who run CKIE who seem to be trying to do something SOMEWHAT similar (yet entirely different...) But Yanko is actually trying to recruit designers (furniture and other stuff) - Which brings me to wonder that perhaps that was how FAB got started?

You say: "they've developed a platform for early stage designers/entrepreneurs to promote their own products."

I am kinda curious as to how you get your products promoted (I do make SOME furniture... so I am curious about this)

I know YANKO actually also PROMOTE designers and whatnot as their main goal on site and here is what they say on CKIE about this:

    "
[h=1]Sell Your Design[/h] If you're an artist with great designs to sell on the CKIE Store by Yanko Design, we want to hear about it!
Yanko Design has a growing audience of over 1.8 million+ unique visitors, making 6 million page views each month. It is the world's most popular and influential online design magazine."

...So what if FAB.com is really just an affiliate of many designers and linking everyone searching their site, with the actual designers and actually have absolutely no inventory, just like a dropshipper? I know I am sounding like I am saying the same thing but I think it is the approach that is different, just like Yanko.

I swear, it makes a whole lot more sense in my head than how I wrote it hahaha.
