Man i was showing up for many many keywords on the frontpage of google for my movie site pushing the new twilight movie that will be coming out. I was looking to bank big since i was getting a bunch of traffic and the movie isn't even out yet. I looked today and nothing....i dont show up anywhere. I spent weeks getting backlinks and reading, and studying up on seo. now all that work down the shitter. I know this question has been asked probably a million times but is it just a google dance or am i defiantly sand boxed?

/end rant

no its not the google dance it't the google waltz.....

If you are bulding links too quickly, it's probably a Sandbox.

the google truffle shuffle. Yea i might have been building them too fast i don't really know what is considered too fast though. I had like 1000 profile backlinks done. The asshat that did it said it wasn't a problem. But now im thinking it IS damn problem. Oh well movie sites are becoming too much of a hassle anyways.

Yeah man. I know how you feel. Best thing to do is get up and brush yourself off.

Nope; most likely it's about to do a big SERP jump. I thought the same and was all paranoid about 1 or 2 days. Give it a couple of days and it will come back. If not in the same position, one that's higher.

Sometimes aggressive linking leaves you sandboxed.

Get a number of links to your site, then start linking your links with more aggressive techniques. It's better to lose a few links due to the sandbox than lose the page that you are trying to link for.

I try to keep the quality links pointing to my domain then spam the crap out of the backlinks. :D

It could be possible that you build links too fast.

Did you deep link into your site or just blast all your links to the main domain?

Also, how many links and what type of time frame did you build them in?

You also have to remember that the topic you are chasing is hot and getting hotter every single day. The more activity around a topic and conversation usually means Google's results will continue to change rapidly due to the high competition.

The worst thing you can do is just stop building links and promoting your site. Keep at it if you want to compete.

Google are too smart for their own good, takes too much patience to beat them!

You'll waste all your time if you spend it trying to beat them.

It's all about appearing like you play by the rules.

Get them to love you, and game their system behind their backs.:D

"1000 profile backlinks done" & "New Site" are obviously the two key problems.

If your site has 100 backlinks over say 3 months been up, then over night you put another 1000 on from "dodgy" and non quality sources probably non related its obvious why you have seen a drop in serps.

But yeah wait a week and see if rankws come back, or try and quickly dump 50% of the backlinks...

come on guys ! Think about this for a second.

Google isn't going to ban you even if you create 50,000 links in 1 day. How can I be so sure ?

Well if Google DID ban sites for questionable backlinks then many of us would be trying to take out our competition from the SERPS by building 1000's of links to our competitors sites rubbing our hands gleefully in the knowledge that Google will eventually delist their sites. That DOESN'T happen as it would create chaos.

I don't mean to say that Google won't sandbox or delist a site-obviously they do but for other reasons. I had an affiliate site that got delisted-I don't know exactly why but can only be because some of my pages had no content on them.

So please stop worrying about how many backlinks you should build in so many days. Logic dictates that Google cannot penalise you for them. Worst case scenario is that Google will simply not recognise your links.

This is exactly how I think.

I see so many people running in fear from the "big bad, all seeing, all knowing" Google.

my adsense got banned :(
this is 4th i got banned :(

You should be sure you read the Adsense terms of service very carefully since they are very strict.

You must be doing something against their TOS to have already gone through 4 accounts.

this is the usual routine google does. Just continue building links. But if the movie is already out then its better you move on :D

if you think google ban your site there are many ways you can find out

just look if your site is still indexed with the command "site:mydomain.com" if your site is still indexed, it will probably show up again in 2-3 days and higher than before.
If your site is not indexed anymore, you got too many links too fast and you're screwed basically.

happened to me too,
built backlinks fast, then it dissapeared, but was still listed (site:mydomain.com search)
then after a few days jumped from the original 17-19 to 14

Cool title for a thread by the way
