Not only is our gas prices high as fuck but our economy is going down the shitter with it. Dam dollar keeps going down.

PS - How the hell did we get on this subject after gas prices?
Guess KHMNTCPR8 just wanted to change the subject :-p

The finance world in the EU thinks that the dollar will drop to ?2- for $1- and maybe even lower by the end of 2009, and that oil wil hit $125/$135 a barrel by then.

Time to find different fuel sources i guess

Not only is our gas prices high as fuck but our economy is going down the shitter with it. Dam dollar keeps going down.

Bush is fucking this country so his friends can get filthy rich.

The even funnier thing is when people tell me things will change when Obama/Clinton get elected. Haha, nothing will change. If you look at their voting records they resemble Bush more than they are different.

Iraq - YES
Patriot Act - YES
Turning This Country into a Dictatorship - YES

It's even more amazing to see Obama supporters just memorized when he is up there speaking. The sad part about that is he will be able to do anything in office because people follow him like Jesus. It's actually pretty scary that most of the people who support him don't even know what he has voted for in the past. They just follow him because he resembles change, whatever that means.

Sorry to say, America is filled with morons. People who judge how good a candidate is by the way he acts in public not by the thing that really matters, his/her policies, past records and actual ideas/beliefs.

I'm a very optimistic person, but America is fucked. The dollar will be bankrupt which will usher in the NAU and Amero, allowing open boarders and continual downfall of this country. Tossing out the old constitution and making a new one where civil liberties are a thing of the past. Gov't will be able to tax you however much they want whenever they want.

Ron Paul was the last true fight for freedom.

You may call all this bullshit and I sure hope you're right, but that has yet to be seen.

But fuck all this stuff, I'm going to live my life!!! :D

Could be the 1 trillion a year and even more that we are spending on a pointless war in Iraq. However that is just a guess :p I'm not a genius politician so I probably wouldn't know.

I remember the $0.25 prices before the embargo in the 70's, and it has been going up ever since. I remember leaded gas too.

Too bad Bush won't do like Clinton and threaten to open up the Naval Reserves on the big oil companies. Bush the II will not offend his families cronies like that.

I worked for a publishing company for a while, I wished i would have smuggled a book out about how to rule the world you must control the oil in the middle east.

Basically the objective is to have strong relations with all countries. With sadam that was not possible, so he had to go.

Whoever controlls the most oil wins.

at least until an alternative is found.

Too bad that more of you were not awake in other than you computer classes!

The President of The United States does NOT set oil prices and in fact has very little influence on those prices.

The price of crude is set by traders, not governments; not even Saudi sets the true price!

Not even the election of the Hillarybeeste or Barack Hussein Obama will change oil prices.

It ain't the politicians, it ain't the oil companies, it ain't the Prez...it is the market; which market is controlled by investors and speculators.

Go here and learn:

http://www.gasandoil.com/goc/news/ntn53955.htm

From the citation:

The cost of gasoline is determined by oil futures traders who shout prices at each other in the pits of the New York Mercantile Exchange during the day and quietly make deals electronically overnight.
Michael Burdette calls it a nearly 24-hour-a-day automated auction where prices can rapidly change as the trading floor hums on every piece of energy data it can get its hands on.

"At all times, there?s a continual action going on," said Burdette, a senior analyst with Energy Information Administration, a division of US Department of Energy.
"This is one reason why I try to hammer home the point that everybody thinks the oil companies raise gasoline prices. They don?t set gasoline prices. The market sets gasoline prices, and it is every bit as much a matter of bidders driving the price up that they?re willing to pay because they?re competing to buy scarce product as it is sellers holding back and raising the price they want to get. The bottom line is in any kind of auction, it?s kind of going both ways."

Everybody from oil producers and refiners to big consumers and speculators get in the action.
"Sellers can be refiners and importers who are bringing in product or producing product and have it available for sale, and on the buying side, you?ve got traders and marketers who want to purchase product so they can turn around and sell it to somebody else," Burdette said. "The speculating folks that are also in the market can be in on either the buying or selling side because they?re constantly either taking long or short positions simply depending on whether they think the price is going to go up or down."

OPEC on oil prices:

I recognise that it makes good political hay to blame the Prez, reagardless of who is Prez but it just ain't so!

With a quarter of the world's proven oil reserves and some of its lowest production costs, Saudi Arabia produces over 4 gigabarrels (600 million tons) of oil per year (17 tons per second)
-Wikipedia

So thats a quarter of the worlds oil right there. If you notice, were GREAT buddies with the saudis. Even though they have one of the (actually the worst) human rights conditions in the world. They make the shit you hear about saddam doing sound like a day in the park.

Iran had the world's second largest reserves of conventional crude oil at 136 gigabarrels as of 2007, although it ranks third if Canadian reserves of non-conventional oil are included. This is roughly 10 percent of the world's total proven petroleum reserves.
Another ten percent. Anyone care to guess who were invading next?

Iraq has the third largest reserves of conventional oil in the world, although it would rank fourth if proven reserves of non-conventional oil in Canada are considered.
Bam. That explains allot, Aside from pissing off the rest of the middle east enough to raise oil prices (Which they CAN do, I wont even get into the "free market" bullshit. The entire world certainly does not have a free market, the Opec is made up of a handful of oil superpowers (for the middle east there superpowers at least!) And has NO problem setting the global market oil price.
They have a monoply, and the Opec is the group that runs that monopoly.

I can see where you would assume the price would be set much like those of other goods uptown. But it simply is NOT the case, Do a little research on the
oil embargo of the 70's. Who do you think caused that?
Yup, the good 'ol Opec.

You can quote public statements all you like, but just because someone says "No, we wouldnt do THAT" does not mean they dont. Look up the Opecs oil price right now, its been raised to somewhere near 144 a barrel last I remember. Thats up almost double from 2000.

Oh and as for Iraq? Who do you think got most of the rebuilding contracts and access to the oil wells?

Halliburton. The company cheyney used to CEO of, and still holds billions of dollars worth of stock in.

The president may not "set" oil prices, but with some good political maneuvering pissing off the right people is not hard to do. Alongside that, Bush has pocketed some nice money for his buddy cheyney and is able to say he cleaned up his daddys mess.

Its not so much our leadership is incompetent, as that they either are extremely intelligent and manipulative, or they simply quit giving a shit 20 to 30 years ago and said "fuck it all, lets milk these fuckers for all there worth"

Suffice to say, were fucked. But like the other dood with the same general opinion about Americas future had to say (I forget his name while Im typing this) Its a real shame and truly is tragic to see this country go the way of Greece and Rome. However,

Fuck it. Ive got living to do.

True Uptown, but a move like Clinton's does have an effect on the futures of the oil prices. Putting words in to action on the other hand, with the tree huggers and the big oil lobysits, is a different matter altogether. It would make for strange bedfellows, but to keep America 'clean' and to fill their pockets they would probably work together.

One move Bush has not taken, that would also make the cost of oil rise, is to take the waiver off of recognizing Jeruselum as the capitol of Israel, creating more tension in the middle east as it would ruin the so called chance for peace between the Palestinians and Israel. This would destabilize the region even more.

Sometimes it does not take much influence to set a series of events in to motion that will have drastic consequences. Here I have pointed out how Bush II could manipulate the cost of oil, and thus the cost of gas/desiel, which will be seen on the cost of a dozen eggs or a loaf of bread. I would say that this would be more than a little influence when he could lower, or raise, the price of a loaf of bread.

The idea of the supply and demand of fuels is another joke in life. The supply is there as we have not had wells drying up left and right, yet, and the demand really has not changed much, creeping ever upward yes, but the yearly average does not vary a lot. People still need to get to work, their vehicles still need oil changes, and the such. Bush II's war has increased the governments need for fuels, so there is another way a Pres can influence what the people pay for everything. The people are not using more, the government is, although we suffer for the crimes of our politicians.

So, there are three quick things Bush II could do to change the price of oil, two of them to the benefit of the people. Set the plan in to motion for opening the Naval Oil Reserves and cut back on the number of fuel inefficient combat vehicles used in the War on Terror.

The one thing you do control in most cases is who you buy the gas from. Try checking out other cities. Here is a website that does comparisons http://www.gasbuddy.com/. There are many more out there though, you just have to look.

A couple of quick words.
I think you "meant" to say when McCain gets elected President.

hxxp://www.rentechinc.com/ They are an answer for some of the problems, not this ineffecient bio ethanol. Coal liquidification without the carbon footprint. The USA is the Saudia Arabia of Coal.

It's really great to see BHers thinking of world issues.

Yeah, gas prices here in holland are realy insane. my friend drives an Cadilac Escalade over here, and he`s paying more on gas then on his house on the moment, and he doesn`t drive that much either.

and on top of that you people can buy a new mustang for 20.000 dollar or something like that, while the same car costs here 45.000 EURO (about 70.000 dollar). there are insane taxes on new cars here also.

so driving a nice car, with some nice power is becomming next to imposible!
only thing that has lighter tax rates is a Toyota prius (and the sorts). but who wants to drive that out of free will?

the only nice thing still left must be the fact that i live just 4 minutes away from the german border, and 10 minutes away from the nearest NO LIMITS autobahn!

legaly cruising @ 250 km/h is realy sweet, until you have to pull over to fill you gastank again :(

China factors into oil prices more than anything else. They're the largest growing economy. Plus they're ditching their bikes for cars at a rapid pace.

Increase in economy = increase in oil consumption.

Simple economics: demand > supply = price increase

As for Ron Paul, his internet support was non-existent at the primaries. Those that supported him online were too lazy to make calls on his behalf let alone vote for him when it counted then blamed the media for bitch slapping him.

"Wir fahr'n fahr'n fahr'n auf der Autobahn

Vor uns liegt ein weites Tal
Die Sonne scheint mit Glitzerstrahl

Die Fahrbahn ist ein graues Band
Weisse Streifen, gruener Rand

Jetzt schalten wir ja das Radio an
Aus dem Lautsprecher klingt es dann:
Wir fah'rn auf der Autobahn..."

What happen to gas prices after we went to War? They shot up and they continue to rise. The market is shit because of the war, we spend like 18 mil every hour we are in Iraq.

Now who is the guy that will not even talk about getting our troops out of Iraq? If you think the Bush family isn't banking off the hard times of others you're kidding yourself.

If speculators and investors determine gas prices, it's not hard to understand that prices would be huge. But how are those prices really occurring? Well we have a president that understands nothing about economics and chooses to further bankrupt a country. He is also supported by a Fed that prints money further fucking our dollar.

To say the president has nothing to do with gas prices isn't true at all.

I can guarantee if we pulled out of Iraq and a few other places we would see gas prices flatline and probably decrease significantly.

I agree that his support sucked ball sack at the primaries, however the media did indeed bitch slap him.

But then again, if Americans were actually intelligent, looked at the issues, and actually realized what is happening to America I'm sure about 80% would've voted for him.

However can you actually deny the media fucked him? I mean I didn't learn about him till around November of last year and I was watching all that political garbage on the TV.

Oh well, the media has an agenda by a higher power anyway so I'm not too surprised. Ron Paul represents an end to everything the big bankers and robber barons have built for the last 50 years.

In this country, the only way to make something change is to completely lie about the way you are then once in office do something entirely different.

Haha, just like Bush! He said he was a uniter and he wouldn't go to war, OOOPSS guess not.

Oh god don't get me started on that dude. Yeh, lets stay in Iraq for the next 100 years and bomb Iran. McCain has absolutely no clue what he is talking about on any issue. Oh well, he won't win anyways.

Obama will win and people around the globe will be suckin on his teet. Then when all his supporters find out he is a complete sham they will say, "Well who's next?"

I asked some chick why she was supporting Obama and she said, "Because he wants us out of the war." I laughed and said, "No seriously why are you voting for Obama?"
