Extreme need for 1k quick, no job reference

I need a thousand bucks fairly quick and I don't have a job/school reference I can use. I had a job with a temp agency that dealt with cases like mine, which required me to have a car. I was using that job to buy food and pay for living expenses while I worked on IM by night. This morning I pretty much totaled my car in an accident. I'm fine, but my car is undrivable. So now I can't afford to take my new Nissan to the dealership for repair because I have ZERO money in the bank. The car is insured, but I have a thousand dollar deductible. This happened at the worst possible time in my entire life. I called all my friends and family and all I could get was 150 bucks from them.

Currently I am working on a graphic design company because I have the skills and tools but I don't have a client base yet. That was going to be my IM campaign I was working on.

My question is, without a high school diploma, work experience or a reputable job reference. How can I quickly make enough money to pay my 1k deductible and get back on my feet. I live in central Los Angeles California USA and I don't know what to do with no car. I have computer skills, but realistically I don't have a marketing setup to bring in 1k any time soon. When I say I need it quickly, I mean I need it like within 20 days, before I completely go belly up due to lack of work. The good thing is that you live in the US so you can do stuff more easily....I have something in mind with regards to selling hard products in your own Amazon store. This will yield fast cash (since I'm overseas this is still possible, but I need approval and to let Amazon know that I'm drop shipping from within the US). Now before you stress about needing money to do this, no worries you can get a free trials to both Amazon store thingy, and worldwidebrands....you need a business tax number though (all real wholesalers require this).

Yea, could write articles and bundle into PLR but I think for a grand in twenty days this will suit you better. It is a horrible experience losing your car and so stressful not being able to drive. Hope this will be a new beginning for you...one day I can say I knew you when...

You have a marketable skill. If you spent 3 hours a day cold calling local businesses that don't have websites I bet you'd have your $1K inside a week.

I was going to say the same thing as chockfactor.

If you are good with graphics then promote your servicers in as many forums (that will let you) as you can find. Also scan all the freelancing sites you can find and bid for the jobs you can do.

You said you have 20 days so make each day count, if you can design a logo and a website or something a day you will make your 1k in around 10 days and then you have 10 days left to relax or make more.

Just put together a quick page or blog with a few samples of your work and you should be all set!

Those are all good ideas. I should begin cold calling local businesses right away. The only reason I don't offer a service right here on BHW is because I literally can't front the 25$ to get it posted. But I think the idea itself is great. I'll see if I can get that 150$ from my grandmother today and use some of that to post the service here. I'll also look into the lancer websites. Thanks for the advise, anything more is still appreciated. I just haven't been that clever with my decisions lately and it helps when I can get advise from some of the guys here who have been down this road and have tips. I'm on it.

You can also offer services at Odesk.com since they have a ton of Members.

I would also recommend doing special promotions like pay $20 for a banner design, and get the second free, etc. If you need the money quickly.

here is what I use when I am in that situation. I just recently got this here at BHW I have had to use it twice in a month. It does take a mass campaign of two or three methods to make what you need. but its possible and hey sounds like you got nothing but time. you can mass campaign all of the methods, you would be on your computer like 12-14 hours a day but I think it could work.

I used a blog format to put this together. Now I need to offer a special on the outside of it, like how bobbylove suggested, I'm also looking into russnae's hardcore campaigning idea. Do you think I should even bother to mess around with backlinking my website, or because I need business right away, should I just skip the backlink stuff and go for straight forum posting and cold calling? You might think they're not related to your biz, but if you read through these threads there are lil' gems of info hidden throughout them. Use your brain, twist the methods and you'll make bank!

I am a graphic designer and web designer/developer and it is very easy to find freelance work. If you know how to make drupal themes, it shouldn't be hard to find companies who need websites (or their websites redone) and will pay $500 for ~10 hours of work

Alright, I know how most people on BHW think and feel about digitalpoint, but truth be told if you you are a freelance designer in need of some quick cash, head over to forums.digitalpoint.com , go to the design section and offer your services (banner/logo/webpage design) there.

there are body shops who can write up the estimate so you won't have to pay a deductable. plus you can often times request that the insurance company pays you for the damages and you get the car fixed on your own. you can have someone fix it up so its driveable and you can pocket the rest.

Same person that acts like an obnoxious moron and treats people with total disrespect begging to be banned, but now wants those same people to help him?

Thanks to everyone who has offered advise so far. The 1st thing I did was try for the freelance jobs using the freelance websites. Unfortunately the competition is more fierce than I ever could have imagined. I'm seeing 40-50 bids for every job that comes through and I could never compete with the rates these guys from India are offering (they'll do anything for pennies on the dollar), I can't even turn $20 a day using that method.

Next I looked into that amazon method and it looks like the entire method is based around signing up for a directory of whole sellers using WorldWideBrands, unfortunately they require a $300 sign up fee (unless you've NEVER used the service before, which I did years ago) and I can't come up with that type of money right now. That method required a real business tax ID anyway (which I don't have, hintz why I didn't use it originally years ago)

The next thing I'm going to try doing is the YouTube sexy video method. Hopefully I can scrap a few dollars together using it. Although I have no idea how to increase my views enough to actually get my video seen.

Any more advice or help anyone has would really be useful right now. I need it more than ever. Thanks.

i am in a similar situation as you, WITHOUT the design and web design skills, in a foreign country, stuck - so it could always be worse.

have you looked into getting a loan from a bank, depending on your credit?
what i've been doing and what you might want to try is hitting every temp agency possible. i expect hard physical labour for 8 hours a day to follow.

also i figure you're already looking but check craigslist every few hours.. in LA i imagine finding general labour jobs, if you are quick enough, might be possible if you don't mind digging up some guy's garden all day.

Actually that was the job I just lost when I lost my wheels. I was currently working for a temp agancy where I do HARD manual labor, but with 20-30 guys waited for each job that comes through, you have to have a car or just wasting your time sitting in the office.
