Hey guys,

For the last 1.5 years, I've been extremely inconsistent.

When I was trying to pursue ecommerce, I worked hard for 2 weeks, then I fell into a slump for 1 week(where I watched movies, youtube, etc., 24/7), get back to work, and the cycle kept repeating.

When I tried to start a website, I'd work hard for a week, then fall into a slump for a week, then I'd start working again and this cycle kept repeating.

Recently I decided to try Youtube out. I figured that since I used to watch so much youtube and it's quite fun, I'd take this as an opportunity to launch and grow my own channel, monetize it and make a lot of $(through my research and observations I've seen others making significant money with YT).

I figured I could work really hard at this since it was the most fun. But here's what my life has looked like:
- work hard for 1 week.
- fall into a slump for 4 days.
- work hard another 3-4 days.
- fall into a slump for 4 days again.

I'm honestly so confused. I have no idea why I'm like this. I mean, I have goals that I really want to achieve yet I can't get over this extreme inconsistency. It's gotten to the point where after I have one bad day, I'd lay in bed staring at my phone until 7am and basically passing out, then waking up at 2pm.

I have tried decreasing my work hours, going to the gym 5x a week, pursuing different projects, taking a break once a week yet nothing changes.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? If so how did you overcome it?

On the days where I work hard, I put in the hours, I'm very focused(I don't get distracted by social media or anything), I always aim to maximize my productivity, and in 3-4 days time I'm like a cripple, just laying in bed 24/7 staring at my phone, totally drained of all energy, not wanting to do anything at all. This continues for like 4 days before I pull myself out of it. It just boggles my mind how I can go from 100 -> 0 so fast.

Some context that may be helpful in understanding my inconsistency:
- I just graduated highschol in June 2020. Dropped out of uni in March 2021 in favor of pursuing my own projects.
- From grade 6-12 I had no life, staying in my room 24/7 watching youtube, movies, playing games, etc. Toxic friends, extreme social anxiety, was too afraid to venture out of my room. This is why I rely on youtube as a crutch when I have a bad day(I think).
- Although YT is the most fun project out of everything I've done, it pretty much always feels like a grind. I'd say I enjoy it maybe 10-20% of the time and the rest of the time I have to be disciplined to work through it.
--> I hear people say they 'wake up excited everyday' for work. I never feel "excited". Best case scenario I'm fine with doing it, worst case I feel a pit in my stomach. So I'm wondering if I just haven't found the right project yet?

Try this

Budget 30% of your savings towards a project mainly marketing. You cant let it go after soending so much. Or you get a partner that you guys share the same dream.

Your style is just horrible. You over-do whatever the hell it is you are doing and then you burn out. Just work normal hours everyday, whatever it is, and also make time for other stuff that is fun to do. This is what will help you be consistent. Don't hammer yourself with one thing or it'll get to you sooner or later.

I get your point. Less work hours, more fun everyday = easier/more consistent.

However, I'd like to get to make $50-$100k a month in the next few years to achieve my dream lifestyle.

I can't do that with regular hours so I'm trying to figure out how to maintain longer hours.

I've seen many others working long hours and being able to sustain that, and that's what I'd like to achieve.

Hey Mate,

Have you tried making goals, just reachable goals.
Once you reach it daily, don't do more, don't do less.
Always just motivate yourself to reach that goal you set?

Yeah I set a goal of 1-2 YT videos per day to grow my YT channel. It's hard to reach and I still crashed after like 4-7 days.

After I reach it I usually try to do more until it's time for bed

I feel you. I pretty much doing the same. Hard to be consistent. I have a hint of ADHD maybe some depression too, so I hyperfocus on work and push hard, then I totally get distracted by anything and find myself reading, watching or doing something totally different as I wanted and I just can't stop untill I get back in that previous mood. Sometimes there are dys when I do literally nothing useful. Except some stuff around the house, but no proress in work.
Try to balance your brain with some nootropics (supplements helped me a lot), eat healthier, workout, go for a walk, try to socialize with nontoxic people etc.

And I would like to be inside Margot Robbie while I'm finger banging Jennifer Lawrence and at the same time have ScarJoe rub her tits in my face. But I have no game, or claim to fame, so I go after the fat girl first, then I chase the next door neighbor, from there I try sleeping with the hottest girl in class

I then fulfil all my fantasies banging MILFs and what not. In the end, I may never even get close to where I wanted to be, but I would still have had a fulfilling sex life. Learn to crawl first, before you can walk, walk before you can run etc... $50 - 100K is a good target to have, but you can't just get there by working hard, you have to be smarter than the rest by a significant margin, you also have to have luck on your side. Try setting realistic goals and once you get there you will know how to proceed to the next level. So get your head out of your ass and start building one block at a time. Good luck!

are these "short videos" since 1 video seems to be quite a bit of work involved.

As for trying to do more, give yourself rest time. Go find a hobby, for me, when i reach my daily goals, i stop working on my site. I go read, i go have family time.
I come on BHW.

Hey I hope you overcome this issue too man. I don't know much about nootropics. Which do you recommend(maybe I should start taking ritalin or adderall again)? I definitely have to socialize more because I have 0 friends and no social life lol. I don't really care, but I think it might secretly be negatively affecting my mental health.

So are you saying that I should get used to a regular work schedule first before going harder, or that I should have a regular work schedule forever?

I almost never complete 2 videos as I'm not efficient enough. Each video is probably like 7-8 hours.

Yeah I'll try to rest more

Yeah, give yourself more rest.
You are 100% overworking yourself that you loose motivation for a few days despite "wanting to do it"

Mental health is the way to go I think. All motivation comes from there. Without support and good company, its hard not to loose motivazion. I'm kind of a lone wolf too. But try looking after nice, fun and smart people. No energy vampires for sure. As per nootropics, I taking one called "brain gains" + taking supplements like L-theanine, L-Trypofan, Omega 3, Ginseng etc also tried a few racetams, but they are pretty hard to get in my country. I don't advice to do adderal or Ritalin, i would rather try to support your own balance to get back on track. Just support your overall mood and wellbeing with anything you can and that will do the trick.

Heres my best tip for you, when u start a project lets say you wanna start a profitable youtube channel.

You dont set your goal at "I wanna make $X a month" from the get go.

In the begining set a goal that isnt related to money , like " im going to post 1 video a day for the next 60 days no matter what " just as an example.

if its shopify then " im going to test 20 products over the next 1 month"

and that way you will win eventually... make the 'journey' your goal and not a dollar amount , because most times, when u focus on lets say $1000 a month, you wont get there fast enough and will lose ur motivation
but if ur goal is just 1 video a day for 2 months, reglardess if u make money or not, u can do that and u will achieve that goal

works for me everytime especially in new ventures
good luck

I loved your example xd
