Externally ranking a Youtube video?

I never did any youtube, just SEO/websites/links etc. Are there any current strategies that work to rank youtube vids nowadays? Embeds? Links? I assume these would rank the vids in google, but would it also help internal youtube algo?

Backlinks have minimal effect on ranking videos on Youtube.
 
Generally, a properly optimized YouTube channel, metadata & meta description (video title & video description), user experience metrics, and attractive thumbnails can increase your ranking both within YouTube itself, and within search engines.
 
I have experiences of embedding youtube videos on my page, then they are ranking well in Google's video search for those related keywords.
And about the ranking at the youtube's algo, you need to on-youtube optimization (title and description, thumbnail pages, ... ), and also off-youtube optimization (backlinks).
There are so many instructions and videos describing this.

No, backlinks has no impact on YT ranking.

Yes.. But some Video watch time and views and Likes.. has some impact but definitely Not backlinks
 
Thanks for all the info guys! Im only going to do the off-youtube part so that's why I'm asking about specific offpage things. Ill try the embeds to boost in google, will be interesting to see how it goes!
 
If you want to bring your YouTube videos to the top, then try to name your videos based on your Main keywords and Secondary keywords. Also, write 200 words about the relevant keywords. Write comments about your video topic or niches as well.
 
Are you ranking on Google? Then you need to:

Have keyword in title
Treat the description like a blog post
Add hashtags
Add keywords + "lsi" keywords in description
Add comments with keywords and links keywords

Then shoot backlinks and do embeds.

I rank youtube videos all day doing this. Quickest I've done is first page in 59 seconds in the ymyl niche.

It'S not the Link, but the people from the website, watching the video, what COULD help to rnk the video (massive traffic on page = massive traffic on video), nor?

In theory. But traffic must be huge, video plays count Must be huge and... it’s still embedded. Hard to rank video with external views. But yup, it’s possible.

when people are saying ‚backlinks to YT video’- those links are mostly from comments. Who check spammed comments list?

That’s a fact. On the other hand - YouTube videos often appears on Google instantly After uploading and I feel like nothing can change it.

idk about backlinks but the op was talking about embeds.
i used to do embedded views back in 2019.
it worked to get video ranked.
any views which is external but counts in youtube studio and is high retention, has bypassed Google bot guard.
hence it helps in ranking.

bots that i used to use to send views or even website embedding, all views count as external yet i could easily hit suggested with it

What about the unlisted method, i know youtube had patched the method a few years ago, is it working for anyone still or is there any variations of this method that can game the system?
