Hi all

having issue with tumblr. I have scraped millions of url by scrapebox and checked them via vanity name checker.
30k were available and i tested their majestic TF and tried to register good ones but guess what happened.
%90 of them cannot be registered.

I didnt enter specific time span in scrapebox.

Do you think this is the reason why i am having this problem?

do i have to enter date interval such as 2 years ago to find registerable domains?

tumblrs often are banned from registering, SB can't see that. you could check if source code from banned-but-availlable tumblr is different than source code of banned-not-available tumblr. then look for what is different in page scanner of scrapebox. but i doubt theres any difference in source code. this is just how tumblrs are.

specific time span? wot

There is no difference in source code between available for registration and simply deleted and not available.

Also, vanity checker is unbelievably slow. Use Alive Checker plugin. That's significantly faster. There are hundreds of people scraping every day, do not expect to find miracles there.

Thanks nargil
So these domains are banned by tumblr or registered by someone else?

I used DHG in the past and it takes lot of effort because you can not register 90% of them even when they are available

Banned and unavailable to register. Tumblr thingie. They are not owned by anyone.

The domain page is registered by someone else. So you can't registered with that name.Expired domain is the domain whoose validity is expired, that means the domain name is available to register, which has some page authority.

Well that's how it is, register the ones that you can and try all options out to get bigger lists.

I have been scraping tumblrs but I'm after the high PA 35+. Just to give an idea. Out of 1.2 million tumblrs scraped with scrapebox and then alive checked and the metrics and then registration I got 16 just tumblrs.

It's tough going.

Not quite true mate. I don't know when you used DHG or how you were using it (with regards to threads and proxies) but with DHG it is not just checking whether the account is active or not, i.e not just doing a check for 404.

Domain Hunter Gatherer is checking whether the account can actually be registered and reporting only if it is. If you are getting significant numbers of unavailable tumblr accounts with DHG you should get in touch with support and have them look into it. Unless you are only using a few proxies (10-20) to check millions of accounts the results should be very accurate.
