HI!

I bought expired Tumblr blogs a couple of weeks ago. I have around 60 blogs to post backlinks to my website. I registered 6 of them a couple of weeks ago and wrote a short article with a link to my website on each of them.

The problem is that it still doesn't show up on the google webmaster tool and I haven't noticed any increasing in the rankings for the keyword I'm trying to rank for. I feel like something is wrong, everybody seems to claim that the results appear after a few days only.

The tumblr blogs appear on the google search results, though.

Could somebody tell me how I should post links to my website on the other tumblr blogs I still have to register?

Thanks in advance!

Did you make sure your tumblrs are properly indexed by Google? (The updated ones with your link in it)

Regarding your question: I personally prefer contextual links because I feel like it works best for me but I haven't any evidence for that to be honest :D

Your link for the tumblrs has to be in the description.
If it's in the blog, Tumblr autmatically shortens the link

Yes. They claim but work nothing. If it works and we able to get results within few days then everyone using only tumbler for getting fast results. Nothing can work within days, You have to work hard on constant basis and then you will see some good results.

Oh ye +1 for this one. Forget about the contextual thingy I said, it won't work here.
Links within Tumblr articles are meta refresh and won't pass all the link juice.

Yes, I did and they all appear properly on Google. And thanks for sharing your experience ;)

It's in the blog, I haven't tried posting the links in the description. Wouldn't it be weird to have lots of tumblr descriptions with a link to the same website?

I'm not using Tumblr only, I just want to get some diversity and boost my rankings a little bit.

Where should we put the links then? What do you guys mean by "put it on description"?
Is it the description under the title?

I've read case studies claiming that it actually doesn't change anything or that the effects on the link juice is minimal. I don't know what to think about it, actually. Would that justify the fact that tumblr doesn't appear as a linking domain on the Google webmaster tool?

The problem is your adding it in the blog, add it in the bio

I will try that, then. I guess it means I won't be able to post more than a link per blog. Too bad, I was planning to create a sort of web 2.0 network to rank more sites. Thanks for sharing your experience, mate!

After you add the link, hover your mouse over it. In the bottom left you will see where it's linking to

No it wouldn't.

And regarding link juice: I think there there is a constant debate in what extent meta refresh negatively effects link juice.
However, it's fact that a clean link is always better, so whenever you can avoid meta refresh links ;)

You're right! I just posted the link in the description of one of the blogs I already registered to avoid meta refresh links. I still have to figure out why the blog doesn't show up on the webmaster tool.

bleh tumblr needs so much sharing now, it's almost pointless

2 things :

- GWT takes a while to update when the link appears in the SERP (I got this answer directly from John Mueller). But links are taken in consideration and worked through the different algorithm (more than 200) as soon as it's available in Google. It's said that the 200 algorithms update on a turnaround time of 2 to 3 months .

- If you want to have link passed by a Tumblr you'll have to either put it in description, or if you feel confident with confident with coding, then just open the theme template and type directly in the front page of the theme (hardcode the text and links).

Please let me know if this is correct: the so called "description section" is only available if you are starting a post by "adding link". other options, for example, text, picture, video, do not have the so called "description" section.

is this correct?

updated: I think my assumption is wrong based on this video:

apparently each tumblr account can get 1 backlink. correct?

The description section is not in the Post body at all,you need to click on the ''edit theme'' which is usually at the top right hand side of your tumblr blog, then you will see where to Put the link, ensure you include http:// for it to work properly

See it here
