Hello everybody,

Just want your opinion on something:

Do you think that domains are likely to lose link value if they are expired - Compared to if you grabbed the same domain, before it expired?

And - If you focus on expired domains - would you only go for domains that are still indexed in Google, or would you say it keeps it's value even though it has dropped from index?

I think that there are so many guides about building PBN's with expired/expering domains floating around... Making it hard to know, what is valuable and what is bullshit. Do you have any sources you would recommend?

Thank you in advance :-)

In my opinion, Expiring Domains will be more valuae than Expired Domans. Because Google seemly considered Expired Domains is a new Domains, they reset the Domanins. You also can recovery the value of Expired Domains if you do it correctly

Thank you for your take on it, learntnt :-)

To understand you correctly.

If we say I have these two domains
Domain A) Expired domain with a fine link profile
Domain B) Expiring domain with the exact same link profile as Domain A
Then domain B would be better? How much would you say it matters? I.e. would it lose 10%, 50%, 90% of it's value? Just to get an idea how big an issue the expiration is :-)

Feel free if any of you have your own take on it... And if you have some guide, you would recommend me to read about best practices for building PBN's. Thank you in advance!

This is not true, please do not spread misinformation.

The best thing with expiring domains is the choice of quality, it is harder to find an already expired domain that is as good as some of the domains expiring every day.

The downside of expiring domains is you almost always have to compete for the good domains where an expired domain is usually easily purchased.

The fact that expired domains are so easy to rank proves that expired domains are entirely viable.

No, expiration of a domain does not affect it's link value as long as the backlinks to the domain are still live.... I have a tried it in practical, I bought an expired/dropped domain >> put the same content it had previously (you can easily find it with the help of wayback machine) and boom, the site ranked to the first page within 30 days without doing any extra work..... So according to me expiration doesn't affect a domain's link value.

Never tried expiring, but expired domains are still very nice for seo. Ranked a website (2M + monthly organic with 2 keywords) with ONLY expired domains pbn (30+ domains). And results are up for three months.. (hope will keep longer...)

Great, thank you all very much! Really thankful to have the myths about expired domain somewhat lose link value debunked

I do believe (from many experiments) that they lose value unless several conditions are respected. However, links that point to those domains do not.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts :) Do you have any suggested readings about the conditions?
