Hey guys I have a question.
I started my project about 2 months ago and now I have 70 articles.
But this project is built on brand new domain with poor links and its really slow indexed...
I have good chance to get expired domain from 2001. There was similar content to my niche.
Should I migrate my website to this domain or not? Thanks.

Got pretty similar situation. Any answer would be really appreciated :)

Is it an auction domain or an expired domain? If it's not a strong and clean auction domain, then it's not worth it. Most expired domains these days won't give much, if any, boost (and may even damage your efforts). You've already waited 2 months with the new domain, give it some more time. Keep adding quality content and you'll start to see improvement.

You should go with auction domains/expired domains with a clean profile so that you can avoid Google Sandbox.

What are the metrics like for the expired domain? Check the domain in Majestic or similar and see what the results are like. No point switching just for a slightly older domain but if you are getting a domain with a good number of backlinks already then it will help. If the domain has good backlinks then which domain name is the catchier / most memorable etc? Choose the best and 301 the old domain to the new, tactics for this will depend on what domain you choose to use and how you map content from the old site to the new.

As a side question - if you have spent the time getting 70 articles written and added to the site, why haven't you invested similar time and effort into getting links? Without links your site won't rank.

There is only like 5 LIVE links. But the name of this expired domain is MUCH MUCH better than the name of current domain :-/.
I'm slowly making backlinks to my website. But for now I invest more to the quality content.

If only 5 links then you won't do any damage to the site by purchasing it and then redirect the old domain to the expired one. Just make sure you redirect all the old pages to the same location on the expired domain, lots of examples out there of how to do this but if you need a hand with this then just say and I can post something up for you.

Curiously some expired domains are doing interesting amount of cash when parked on Bodis or GoDaddy. I don't get it. But, even this may be good indication there's nothing wrong with expired/dropped domains.

Does the domain you want to buy have 5 live links or your new one? If you ask me, I'd not do it anyway. Though, I'd buy it and try to merge it with the new one..

Don't think that it will make any damage if you migrate to the new domain. Besides, it's better to have the memorable name - your name shapes your destiny :D

Switch and migrate.

Don't doubt yourself.

You're looking for doubts to be given to you here, after you bought the other domain. BUTTT.... but you did your homework already and know the value of the new domain.

Trust and respect your process.

Move to the old domain if it has a cleaning link profile, your site it's only two month old so the move will not impact too much. Remember to redirect the posts to the new domain url otherwise you'll get a penalty for duplicate content, when you'll see that the content it's reindexed correctly you can delete the old site.

Hello guys. Little update. I redirected everything properly (all articles, pages and external backlinks too). It has really good impact to index speed and probably to rankings too. Thank you.
