Hi, I am new to SEO and start to aquire some Knowledge in this. I would like to know if I buy an expired domain at Godaddy or somewhere else and want to use it as PBN for my $ Site. Do I have to keep the same topic of the expired domain as it was or can I build it on new topic ? won't this affect the coming backlinks to this expired domain ?
    Thanks

You can build as you want but niche relevant pbn more powerful.
I always prefer branded domain for pbn because it's easy to change their niche without impacting too much.

If its niche relevant then you are good otherwise you might want to re-purpose before you could reap benefits.

    depends. sure you can rebuild.
if the domainNAME or former niche is relevant to target, is your choice.
however, if you get to "nichy" you pay a hefty premium.

I like dommainames i can "rebrand" and blend in. else, i get cheap and strong ones and dont care if they are found.
    its up to you.

I suggest you do as long as it is relevant to your niche.

Most would recommend a niche relevant domain, and that is my personal preference too.
If your expired domain has backlinks from automobile websites and you start filling in content about dog food, google can surely detect that and ignore the link juice it is receiving, making the domain weaker.

Check the history of your expired domain first (through archive.org) and previous backlinks (through ahrefs.com). There might by some shady SEO or topic behind.
